  • Announcing our '24-'25 season! IB is thrilled to partner with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and Peace Center for The Nutcracker AND Don Quixote this season. L'Automne takes place in our own IB Theater, located at Somerville Center, 2172 River Rd, Greer. You'll also find IB dancers performing in "Holiday at Peace" Dec. 6-8 at the Peace Center. Many thanks to VITA Barre, Metropolitan Arts Council, South Carolina Arts Commission, Graham & Greta Somerville, and Charles Wofford & Nancy Thomas for their support in helping IB bring exceptional ballet productions to the Upstate.

  • International Ballet welcomes Adair Kempf as the new Academy Director for the 2024-2025 Season. The Academy Director is a brand new full-time position created by International Ballet leadership to support the faculty, students, and families of the non-profit. Adair will work alongside IB artistic and administrative leaders to maintain the Academy’s focus on high quality training in a safe, nurturing, and friendly environment. International Ballet is known for training dancers who go on to receive scholarships to top university dance programs and professional dance careers. Adair joins the IB team with over 20 years of experience in the ballet industry. Originally from Greenville, SC Adair graduated from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Arts & Humanities, going on to receive a BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University. She danced professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre (Charleston, SC) and Carolina Ballet Theatre (Greenville, SC), working with renowned choreographers such as Alonzo King and Dwight Rhoden. As a teacher, Adair has worked with students from pre-ballet through pre-professional, and coached advanced students for competitions including the Youth American Grand Prix. Most recently Adair served as the Dance Department Administrative Assistant, Ballet Faculty, and Summer Dance Immersion Director at South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. “We are thrilled to have Adair joining the IB Team. She brings a wealth of experience to her new position and to the International Ballet students, families and faculty. This is a very exciting time for our training academy and Adair will only further bolster our commitment to the highest standards in ballet training and performance,” says President Sarah Shoemaker.   • International Ballet (IB) is thrilled to bring the iconic ballet Swan Lake to the Upstate on May 25 & 26! Our breathtaking production features San Francisco Ballet's Katherine Barkman and Esteban Hernandez as Principal Guest Artists, our own talented IB students as the corps de ballet, and additional guest artists including IB alumni from Ballet San Antonio, Ballet Idaho, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, and Chattanooga Ballet. Tchaikovsky's famous score will be played by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Edvard Tchivzel. Don't miss this very special event!   • IB is so grateful to the TD Charitable Foundation for their belief in our vision to make the art of ballet accessible to all. This grant will help us continue bringing free ballet training and performance opportunities to underserved communities in Greenville. Launched in June 2023, Project Pirouette has served over 100 children through its summer and after-school programs, and has sparked a passion for dance in many who may not otherwise have had the opportunity or exposure.

  • This weekend, Dec. 8-10, International Ballet presents The Nutcracker ballet at the Peace Center, accompanied by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel. Ticket Link: https://lnkd.in/gcJ-GHdA In addition to our cast of talented IB students, we're thrilled to have Principal Guest Artists Brooklyn Mack and Ekaterina Nechayeva joining us. Brooklyn, a South Carolina native, has danced with numerous companies around the world including Washington Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Joffrey Ballet. American Ballet Theatre, English National Ballet, and many more. In addition to performing, Mack also currently serves as the Interim Artistic Director of Columbia Classical Ballet in Columbia, South Carolina. Ekaterina recently performed in Greenville as The Sylph in International Ballet's La Sylphide in April 2023. She is currently with Chelyabinsk Opera and Ballet Theatre and is the daughter of long-time International Ballet and South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities faculty member Irina Ushakova.
