"Everyone is welcome. Unless you are mean. We don't like mean. We don't like rude," says Chef Dayna Lee-Márquez of Comal 864, a self-taught cook and restauranteur who's creating a space for people of all backgrounds to gather and find comfort in a great meal. Around that mission of kindness and community service. (She feeds her community and gives back, BIG TIME) a powerful force in the culinary world is rising. An appearance this summer on the Food Network, mentions in Southern Living, and the semi-finals of the James Beard Foundation awards in 2023, are just appetizers for this #DineGVL main course. Find them at their original location at 1112 Woodside Avenue in West Greenville and their new one at 219 W. Antrim near McAllister Square.

It has been a SUPER summer with City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Day Camps at David Hellams, Bobby Pearse and West Greenville Community Centers. This week West Greenville campers visited the Duke Energy Corporation World of Energy at Oconee Nuclear Station and learned about production, environmental impacts and conservation practices. Campers at David Hellams dressed up as superheroes, designed their own capes and discussed courage, empathy, justice and perseverance. Bobby Pearse campers explored gravity and motion at SkyZone and focused on communication and cooperation while navigating obstacles. Our camps are building character and cherished memories in the weeks before school starts.
