🚧 ILA labor strikes approach midnight deadline. We enter uncharted territory in global supply chains. ❗️ Interos data reveal expanded radius of impact: 11 million companies at risk: 855,000 direct importers at stake 2.2 million companies supplied by direct importers (tier 1) 3.7 million tier 2 companies (those that supply tier 1) 4 million tier 3 companies These represent over 152 million unique company-supplier relationships across the globe. There is a large global footprint, but the largest concentration of impact will be in the US at 34% of all companies. The countries most impacted by a strike will be: #1 🇺🇸 USA (34%) #2 🇮🇳 India (9%) #3 🇬🇧 UK (8%) #4 🇩🇪 Germany (3%) #5 🇮🇹 Italy (3%) 🔗 For a deeper analysis head to: https://bit.ly/3Y4sm0b #supplychain #ILAstrikes #laborstrikes #ILA #scrm

🪧 Oct 1 deadline: ILA labor strikes to send supply chains into turmoil ahead of retail holiday import surge. The scale of supply chain disruptions could be of a magnitude never before seen. ⛴️ The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) workers at East and Gulf Coast ports are far reaching. 🇺🇸 Ports affected include: New York New Jersey Savannah Houston Charleston Miami Which combined, account for 40% of goods shipped to and from the US. The last full ILA strike was in 1977, when the US imported only $151 billion in goods annually. In 2023, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports $3.83 Trillion. 🚨The impact of a full ILA strike in 2024 could be at least 25x! 🛍️ Consumer retail goods are at risk ahead of the holiday shopping season, with surge of imports often seen in October. Impact by the Numbers: - 67 million trade records - 200,000 US companies - 74,000 foreign suppliers - 5,684 different product types - 1,300 industries 🔗 For a deeper analysis by our own Corey Ray, head to: https://bit.ly/3TMcWLu #supplychain #ILAstrikes #laborstrikes #ILA #scrm

🌊 1.2 million businesses in Hurricane Helene's path of destruction. Hurricane Helene reached Category 4 status as it hit landfall in Florida with 140 mph sustained winds. The National Weather Service has deemed the storm surge as "catastrophic and unsurvivable". Florida, and the larger southeast, will be gravely impacted. And supply chains stand to buckle. The potential impact by the numbers: 🌀 1.2 million businesses face winds from 60 mph to over 140 mph 🏢 1,100 industries at risk 🚛 Trucking & freight among most likely to be impacted (3% of companies) 👣 But vast footprint across sectors (97% from other industries) 🛫 Widespread flight cancelations 💄 380 products affected (cosmetics, machinery, plastics, vehicle parts, etc) 🥕 Agriculture and crops stand to suffer with up to $371 million of damage (per 12-month losses in Florida alone from Hurricane Idalia last year) In 2023, Cooper University Health Care used Interos Inc to identify at-risk vendors in the path of a hurricane in Florida. They were able to pre-empt vendor closures and order critical supplies prior to shutdown. Per Thomas Runkle, MS, PhD, VP, Supply Chain of Cooper Health, "Reacting just doesn't work anymore." You have to be proactive and get ahead of an event. And you need to do it with speed. Read more on the effects of Hurricane Helene, and follow us for more on supply chain risk management of today's ever-changing world. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gAQJkVtZ #supplychain #riskmanagement #scrm #hurricanehelene

🌲 December 30, 2024 is coming — are you compliant? ⏰ The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is only 3 months from going into effect. Companies must certify that their supply chains are free of companies linked to deforestation or risk significant fines. The regulation covers: 🌎 Any company doing business within the EU (HQ’d anywhere) Across 7 key commodities (& their derived products): 🦧 palm oil 🍫 cocoa 🐄 cattle ☕️ coffee 🪵 wood 🌱 soy ✏️ rubber What are the risks of noncompliance? - Steep fines up to 4% of EU turnover - Criminal charges - Repetitional damage This is the first, not the last. 🇺🇸 Similar legislation is being proposed in the US: Fostering Overseas Rule of Law and Environmentally Sound Trade (FOREST) Act Preparation is key — requiring complex, multi-faceted supply chain mapping. 🔗 Read more about the fast-approaching regulation: https://bit.ly/3TI44qt #EUDR #Deforestation #ESG #Supplychain
