Wes Moore and ARPA-E Director Dr. Evelyn Wang at our facility, to celebrate the recent $1 million grant awarded to us through the Build Our Future Grant Pilot Program and the $20 million awarded through ARPA-E’s SCALEUP Program. While here, Governor Moore announced an additional $11 million in funding for advanced manufacturing and technology in the state of Maryland. ION is proud to be at the forefront of innovation and Maryland’s bright future with our safer, longer-lasting solid-state batteries designed with manufacturing to scale in mind. This week, Ion Storage Systems celebrated their recent ARPA-E SCALEUP and Maryland Build Our Future Awards at their facility in Beltsville, Maryland. As part of the event, ARPA-E Director Dr. Evelyn Wang delivered remarks that highlighted how the ARPA-E SCALEUP program is supporting Ion to accelerate the deployment of the company’s 3D ceramic solid-state electrolyte battery architecture. Following the remarks, Director Wang joined Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Congressman Glenn Ivey, State Senator James Rosapepe, State Delegate David-Frasier-Hidalgo, and University of Maryland President Darryll Pines for a tour of the facility, which could become one of the largest solid-state battery manufacturing facilities in the United States.
