Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting local medical leaders at our Medical Readiness Detachment and showcasing one of our MEDEVAC UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. 🏥🚁 This tour highlighted the capabilities of our military personnel and the training facilities that help them stay #AlwaysReady. Many of our M-Day Soldiers and Airmen also serve in the civilian medical field, making this a great opportunity for their employers to see firsthand what some of their employees do during Guard training! 💪 Check out our YouTube video about our MEDEVAC aircrews in action! 🎥: https://lnkd.in/gxv67FwX (U.S. Army National Guard photos by 1st Lt. IMPORTANT: Potential Missed Opportunity for BRS Continuation Pay in CY25 Attention Soldiers and Leaders: 📢 Soldiers who are covered under the Blended Retirement System (BRS) should be aware of the current and upcoming changes to Continuation Pay (CP) eligibility. 🗓️ Current Situation in CY24: In Calendar Year 2024 (CY24), Soldiers in the Iowa Army National Guard (IA ARNG) with between 8 and 12 years of service (as measured from their Pay Entry Basic Date, PEBD) are eligible to apply for BRS Continuation Pay. 🚨 Upcoming Changes in CY25: There is a high probability starting CY25 that the eligibility criteria for BRS Continuation Pay will change significantly. CP will only be available to Soldiers who are enrolled in BRS and have completed exactly 8 to 9 years of service—a narrow 12-month eligibility window. ❓What This Means: If you are currently eligible for CP (i.e., you have between 8 and 12 years of service as of CY24), you must apply for and receive approval for CP by the end of CY24. If you wait until CY25, and you have more than 9 years of service, you will no longer be eligible. 💥 Action Required: Soldiers who are eligible for CP in CY24 must decide and apply for CP this year. Waiting until CY25 could result in a missed opportunity. 📞 Contact your Unit Retention NCO or the Iowa Army National Guard Education & Incentives office if you have questions.

On August 18, 2024, the Iowa National Guard had the honor of presenting the Silver De Fleury Medal to 99-year-old WWII veteran Henry Langrehr at the 224th Brigade Engineer Battalion armory in Davenport, Iowa. 🏅 Henry Langrehr’s journey is a testament to courage and resilience. As a paratrooper in the Normandy invasion, he bravely faced German anti-aircraft fire, survived a perilous jump, endured capture as a POW, and escaped to rejoin the fight. After the war, he returned to his hometown of Clinton, Iowa to become a successful business owner. 🇺🇸 The De Fleury Medal is the Army Engineer Regiment's highest honor, recognizing those who have made a lasting impact on Army Engineering. Community is the backbone of the Iowa National Guard's mission and we are proud to honor servicemembers of past generations. 🤝 (U.S. Army National Guard video by Spc. The Iowa National Guard had the honor of assisting in the special presentation of the Silver De Fleury Medal to 99-year-old WWII Veteran Henry Langrehr at the 224th Brigade Engineer Battalion in Davenport, on August 18, 2024. The De Fleury Medal is the highest award for professional excellence in the Engineer Regiment and celebrates those who contributed significantly to Army Engineering. Henry Langrehr’s incredible military history is nothing short of heroic. During WWII, he was among the paratroopers who bravely faced German anti-aircraft fire during the Normandy invasion. Surviving the jump into Ste Mere Eglise, capture, and internment as a POW, he later escaped, returned to combat, and eventually came home to Clinton, Iowa. Stay tuned to our social media pages and YouTube channel for a video highlighting the special day! The Iowa National Guard completed a successful eXportable Combat Training Center (XCTC) rotation from mid-July through early August 2024. Over 5,000 Soldiers from eight states participated in the large-scale exercise, showcasing their skills and dedication to safety. This operation not only strengthens our state partnerships, but also highlights our appreciation for each Soldier's service, the support from their families, and the understanding of their civilian employers.
