The Gambia has reached a historic milestone with the approval of its first-ever plastic pollution control plan. The initiative focuses on reducing plastic waste, improving recycling systems, and addressing pollution's impact on marine environments. This plan is part of The Gambia’s broader efforts to protect its coastal and ocean ecosystems from the growing threat of plastic pollution, setting an example for other nations to follow. https://lnkd.in/e6gM2tGj

Hakai Magazine reports on research that reveals migrating seabirds are transporting PFAS into the Arctic. These birds, exposed to contaminated environments, carry the chemicals in their bodies, introducing them to remote ecosystems far from industrial sources. This raises concerns about the broader impacts of PFAS on Arctic wildlife and ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/gfqhF6Kn

IPEN (International Pollutants Elimination Network) reposted this
"California’s lawsuit matters because of who it names and what it argues," write The Center for Climate Integrity's Richard Wiles and Beyond Plastics' Judith Enck. "While other governments have brought legal action against consumer brands for their plastic pollution, California’s case is the first to target a major plastic producer for falsely promoting recycling as a solution." EU🇪🇺has banned use of #LeadChromates for paint & other purposes. EU🇪🇺exports of #LeadChromates represent a dangerous double-standard: #LeadPaint is deemed unsafe for their citizens yet tolerate exports of #LeadChromates putting recipient countries’ children🧒&👨👩👧👦families at risk.
