This shift is reshaping the landscape of the food and drink industry, driving innovation and change. Brands are starting to address the specific nutritional, physical, mental, and emotional health needs of consumers. New product formulations are focusing on issues like cardiovascular health, 🧠 brain health, and stress management, demonstrating a commitment to holistic well-being. This increased knowledge can be attributed to the fact that 46% of consumers, when considering spending priorities, list ‘health and wellbeing’ as the top priority. Two main drivers for pursuing a healthier lifestyle are feeling well, according to 40% of consumers, and aging well, according to 37% of consumers. Brands will play a pivotal role in the self-care movement, especially amongst consumers aged 40 and over. With this consumer in mind, food and drink companies are developing products to proactively address 🦴 joint health, fuel 🏋️♀️ fitness routines, and maintain healthy 💤 sleep patterns, thereby supporting overall wellness. Ingredients like prebiotics, fibre, colostrum, and collagen are gaining popularity for their health benefits and are becoming key in new product development. These are paving the way for innovative offerings that cater to the modern, health-conscious consumers. Fast forward to 2024, where only 25% achieve 8 hours, while 20% battle with insufficient sleep, highlighting a significant shift propelled by today’s fast-paced lifestyles. In response, the conversation around 🛌 sleep health has intensified within the wellness community, yet the problem persists. Despite the proliferation of sleep hacks and gadgets, chronic stress and the omnipresence of screens continue to challenge our ability to rest deeply. The increasing focus on 🧘♂️ wellness has also contributed to the rapid growth of the sleep market, making it highly lucrative.
