Of course Italy is still behind other fast-growing countries in Europe, but every year, our putting-Italy-on-the-map-vision feels more achievable. We believe that connecting talent and putting it at the center of everything is the best fuel for growth. With a new generation of founders emerging that are inspired by Europe’s success stories, there is huge potential for Italian tech to grow and join Europe’s leading tech nations over the next few years. Of course, politics and major governmental decisions must play their part, but it’s amazing to see the atmosphere heating up and talent stepping in (or coming back) to make a difference.
 At Vento, we’ve built a talent-centric ecosystem made up of a flagship conference, Italian Tech Week, a Venture Building program, and Investment activities.
 While on one side we are backing Italian founders, no matter where they are based, our Venture Building program is designed to create game-changing startups by attracting talent and nurturing their businesses right in Italy, whether they grow roots here or find their path elsewhere. How do you spot billion-dollar opportunities before the rest of the market?
 For Alessandro Luciano, VP at Insight Partners, the answer is simple: find the gap before it’s obvious.
 At #ITW24, he shared how smart deal-sourcing isn’t just about discovering startups, it’s about identifying demand that’s already there but not yet served. His investment in Unobravo, one of Europe’s largest digital mental health platforms, is a prime example: mental health needs were rising, but the right solutions weren’t available.
 Now, neurotech and mental health are climbing the investment ladder, fueled by social acceptance, scientific progress, and increasing demand. But the challenges monetization, scalability, and sustainability, are still being solved. The data is clear: Europe’s startup ecosystem has grown massively in the past decade—time to celebrate! Not everyone is benefitting, though. What about the gender funding gap? Despite all the awareness, progress has been painfully slow. One bright spot: at Pre-Seed, all-women teams have doubled their share, and mixed-gender teams have seen a 30% boost.
 But at later stages, the numbers barely move. Women-led teams got 4.1% of Seed funding (2013-16) vs. just 5% today. Mixed teams? From 17.8% down to 16.1%.
 More early funding alone won’t fix this. Women and mixed teams need more capital at every stage.
 And funding is just one piece of the puzzle—what about the pay and seniority gaps?
