"Ever since digital tools and experiences became aspects of everyday work life, there’s been a struggle within scaled organizations: How to define and classify “products.” What is a product? What’s not a product? What would it mean for an organization if we had a definition we agreed to? "It may seem like it’s a struggle about semantics, but it is not that simple. In reality, the debate around “What is a product?” is primarily a struggle over finance, ownership, conviction, and who gets a seat at the table. Within various social media posts on LinkedIn, Reddit, or Medium, the debate often manifests as a semantic argument that seems petty and inconsequential to most outside observers. You can’t really blame anyone for thinking of these debates as unproductive nonsense akin to the infamous—and never-ending—“tabs vs. spaces” flame war. After all, we’re all familiar with the reality that IT professionals are often proud to have ludicrous and seemingly endless discussions on minutiae that will both never be settled and never yield any productive value." "Few retail and consumer goods companies have embraced digital transformation as comprehensively and successfully as Adidas. Over the past five years, the iconic sportswear brand has undergone a remarkable metamorphosis, transitioning from a traditional wholesale-focused business to a digital-first, direct-to-consumer powerhouse. This extensive transformation touches every aspect of the company, from its technology infrastructure to its organizational structure, culture, and business model. "For technology leaders across industries, Adidas’ journey offers a wealth of insights and lessons. It demonstrates how a legacy brand can reinvent itself for the digital age, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices to not just keep pace with digital natives but outperform them. This article traces Adidas’ transformation based on presentations they have given at DevOps Enterprise Summit (now called the Enterprise Technology Leadership Summit), offering a comprehensive playbook for technology leaders seeking to drive similar changes in their own organizations." "Collaborative work is more like a construction project [than a race]. You can operate, even as a team, at peak performance and watch nothing improve. Until you address dependencies—the permitting process, the handoffs between trades, the supply chain for materials, the cost of inventory, the effects of weather—your efforts will be wasted." From the book Flow Engineering: From Value Stream Mapping to Effective Action by Steve Pereira and Andrew Davis.

It's awesome to see the Flow Engineering community and resources growing! Check out this awesome set of Miro templates from Harry, and get started engineering flow!
Creating and sustaining thriving teams is a lot of work. I want to help make it a little easier, faster, and cheaper for teams to find flow and perform at their best. Inspired by Flow Engineering by Steve Pereira and Andrew Davis, I've created a 💸 free Miro template to help teams define where they're heading and map out a clear path to get there! The template follows the 5 mapping steps described in the book to help teams create value, clarity, and flow. At each step you'll find descriptions, tips, and examples to help you along the way. If you haven't already, buy the book and read the free quick start guide to get familiar with the concepts! There's oodles of practical content that builds on lean-agile ways of working for a wide range of environments. Link in the comments ⬇️ The Steps: 1. Begin with Outcome Mapping to define your target outcome. 2. Map the activities required to deliver value to your customers with the Current Value Stream. 3. Map the Dependencies your target outcome relies on to create clarity around your constraints. 4. Map out a Future Value Stream to address the issues and opportunities you identified. 5. Create a Flow Roadmap to prioritise and order the improvements. Check out the link below to make a copy.

A lot of great stories were shared at Fianu's automated governance roundtable. One of my favorites was that, as a college student, DryRun Security CEO James Wickett wanted to be an IT auditor, which ultimately drove him to write the famous "Dear Auditor" letter in 2018. Check out the full history of "Dear Auditor" in the comments below ⬇️ Read "Dear Auditor" from IT Revolution 👉 https://lnkd.in/ejN3eXk6
