Thank you to Kathleen Janosik and all our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) who are providing hope and important care for our patients. With a grant from the HRSA, we are beginning to increase the supply and distribution of SANEs throughout Indiana, especially in rural areas. Our goal is to increase the current number of 45 to 345 by 2027. https://lnkd.in/gDwsWh5f
About us
IU Health Foundation leverages the power of philanthropy to support the IU Health vision of making Indiana one of the nation’s healthiest states. When you give to IU Health, you aren’t just making a donation—you’re making All the Difference. Philanthropic support allows IU Health to: - Drive changes that transform the health of all Hoosiers, now and for the future - Ensure that no Hoosiers need to look outside our home state to access the very best care — regardless of how serious or complex the diagnosis - Deliver care outside the walls of our hospitals and clinics to address social impediments to wellness - Ensure that IU Health remains a leader as healthcare evolves and new health challenges come along - Empower IU Health team members to think innovatively, accelerate implementation, and address the challenges that lead to breakthroughs - Honor past and current donor intentions by ensuring that dollars designated for local needs stay in the community.

Across Indiana, more than 70 new mothers and infants are benefiting from the launch of a new IU Health resource: mom and baby kits. The kits, containing items such as bottles, IU health-branded onesies, thermometers, breastmilk bags, outlet covers and more, are offered to families enrolled in the WeCare program. IU Health’s WeCare program connects expectant mothers, and mothers with infants under one, with free one-on-one coaching and tangible resources to give this vulnerable population a healthy start and help combat Indiana’s high infant mortality rates. The goal is that the mom and baby kits, made possible in 2024 through a government grant, will become a reoccurring WeCare offering. The mom and baby kits were assembled by the Community Health team to thank WeCare moms for joining the program and ensure they feel special. “These kits are a direct message to our new moms that we do care about their needs and are here to support them,” says Ebony Carter, project manager. “The mothers receiving these kits have been so grateful. It felt good to know our work was making a difference,” says Carter.

IU Health Foundation president Crystal Miller says healthcare philanthropy traditionally has focused on slower-moving targets, such as buildings, specialty departments, endowed positions and high-tech equipment. In her latest quarterly message, Miller explains how a complementary second approach can quickly respond to pressing needs or opportunities – and why both approaches are important to a healthier Indiana. https://bit.ly/3UcIsT8
