💡 Yet Another Missed Opportunity for California's Energy Future 💡 California’s 2018 #SB1339 was designed to promote the development of #microgrids—localized grids that can operate independently during power outages. ⚡ The law’s goal was to streamline the regulatory and technical processes that make it easier to build these community-based microgrids, increasing energy resilience and reducing grid reliance in the face of natural disasters and outages. Yet, in a recent decision, the California Public Utilities Commission rejected critical non-utility microgrid tariff proposals, making it harder to commercialize microgrids. Microgrids are critical for local energy resilience and a more equitable clean energy future—yet the Commission’s decision limits microgrid potential by focusing on what can't be done rather than exploring what can be achieved. By focusing on limitations rather than possibilities, the #CPUC delivers yet another blow to California’s #cleanenergy goals. #EnergyResilience #ClimateAction
