Much like young children, older adults need to have updated immunizations. As we age our immune systems tend to get weaker, make us susceptible to certain diseases we might not have been before. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends all adults over 65 have these vaccines up to date: COVID-19 vaccine Flu vaccine (influenza) Pneumococcal vaccine Shingles vaccine (zoster) Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough) or Td (tetanus and diphtheria) Some adults might need a RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccine, talk to your doctor to find out if the RSV vaccine is right for you. The CDC has a wonderful schedule by age you can look at here: https://lnkd.in/e3buDesw as well as a quiz you can take to find out what immunizations might be right for you: https://lnkd.in/eFaZtZ2

Nearly 1 in 5 struggle with having enough food, and 1 in 4 either reduce meal sizes or skip meals altogether. The Commonwealth Council on Aging and Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services has been working to help increase awareness of the prevalence of food insecurity among Virginia's older adults.
