We love project site visits, especially 160’ high over a steep valley! Last week, Janet B. Cunningham, PE and Scott H. Schaeffer, PSP, PMP visited the SR 84 Sec 282 Twin Bridges project in Lackawanna County, PA. JBC is supporting Urban Engineers by providing Construction Inspection services on this $113M project for PennDOT District 4-0. On average, around 6 million vehicles travel on this highway each year. Construction began in 2020 – it’s on schedule and expected to complete in 2026. The project scope includes but is not limited to the replacement of two mainline bridges carrying I-84 EB & WB over Roaring Brook and an existing active railroad, replacement of the left-hand exit to SR 435 Elmhurst with a right-hand exit that includes a Fly-Over Bridge, as well as demolition of the existing I-84 bridges and roadway. What a great event! Thank you March of Dimes for hosting the 31st Annual 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 - a unique event that honors industry companies, organizations, and inspiring individuals. We enjoyed connecting with friends and proudly celebrated the 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒏𝒖𝒕 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒈𝒆 rehabilitation project which received the 𝕋𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 ℙ𝕣𝕠𝕛𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝔸𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕕! JBC’s Senior Scheduler David Bjork provided scheduling services for the $105M project, which also included repairs to eight other nearby structures on both sides of the Schuylkill River. The combined super-structures on Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue carry a total of 26,900 vehicles per day, according to PennDOT. The project also received the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia 𝟤𝟢𝟤𝟥 𝒢𝓇𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒥𝓊𝓇𝓎 𝒜𝓌𝒶𝓇𝒹.
