On Monday night, nearly 700 members of our community came together to mark the one-year anniversary of the tragic events of October 7. We gathered to remember those we lost, honor the heroes who inspired us, pray for the hostages still in our hearts, and express our gratitude for the remarkable response from our community during Israel’s time of need. Thank you to our co-sponsors, the Capital District Board of Rabbis & Cantors, and Congregation Beth Emeth for graciously hosting us. We also extend our appreciation to local law enforcement for its steadfast commitment to keeping our community safe and to the Jewish Federations of North America for its unwavering support. https://lnkd.in/geWB79QW

It is not often that our Northeastern New York Jewish community receives national recognition for some of our outstanding programming and community events, so we wanted to make sure to highlight this amazing article that ran in yesterday’s eJewish Philanthropy (a daily publication aimed at Jewish nonprofits around the world). The piece, written by Jewish Federation’s Director of Community Engagement and Center for Learning and Belonging, KB Goodkin, has resonated with our Federation peers who have congratulated KB for the excellent article and lauded our community for our initiative in welcoming teens from Israel to provide a summer filled with respite and fun. Kol Hakavod to KB for her work and to everyone in the Capital Region who volunteered and contributed to this program. We know it was important and meaningful to all of us but, even more so, for the Israeli teens we hosted.
"Politics were put aside. Denominational divides were bridged. Lasting relationships were formed. Our community was unified by a singular purpose." Welcoming Israeli teens to northeastern New York for a dose of TLC by K.B. Goodkin https://vist.ly/3g7na
