The New Terminal One at JFK was proud to sponsor the 3rd Annual Girls in Aviation Day organized by The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey JFK Redevelopment team on Saturday. The event aims to encourage girls in the communities surrounding JFK Airport to consider careers in the aviation industry. Representing our team were Begoña López-Cediel García-Serrano and Jasmin Rose from our Project Management Office, led by Ferrovial Construction. Begoña and Jasmin met with the event's young attendees and their families, sharing their experiences working on our transformational project. We were pleased to sponsor the model wooden airplane station at the event, providing a memorable keepsake for this year's Girls in Aviation. Thank you to the PANYNJ JFK Redevelopment team for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful event for our industry's future generation of women leaders!

As we honor Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, we recognize the essential contributions of MWBEs to The New Terminal One at JFK — the largest single-asset project financing in the nation's history. Today, we spotlight Summit Building Services LLC, led by Hernan Quiñonez (right in the photo) and Daniel Quiñonez (left), MWBE firm owners. The brothers were young boys when they first arrived in the United States from Paraguay, landing at JFK Airport. Settling in a working-class community of Southampton, NY, Hernán and Daniel began their journey in the United States while still in middle school. Their mother, who arrived first, worked various jobs to support the family, while their father, a talented craftsman and painter, ran a business both in Paraguay and in the U.S. Though he did not speak English, the elder Mr. Quiñonez's skills and craftsmanship opened doors, particularly to work in high-end residential homes, where his sons took on pivotal roles. Hernán and Daniel would translate, make business calls, update clients, and manage work orders and invoices, gaining invaluable business acumen while still in their early teens. This hands-on experience instilled in the Quiñonez brothers the values of perseverance, collaboration, and hard work. These lessons became the foundation for their own entrepreneurial ventures, leading to the launch of their construction business, initially focused on residential work on the East End of Long Island. Years of dedication and perseverance have led them to high-profile projects, including roofing work at the head house and "bow tie" sections of the New Terminal One and construction of space at New Terminal One's office on the JFK Airport campus. "We're incredibly proud to have played a role in building the New Terminal One at JFK," said Hernán Quiñonez. "As a Latino-owned business, this project holds a special meaning for us. It's about honoring our roots and contributing to a legacy that future generations can take pride in. During Hispanic/Latin Heritage Month, we reflect on the values of hard work, perseverance, and community that our parents passed down to us. We’re grateful for the opportunity to reflect those values in everything we build." "Working at Terminal 1 and knowing it's going to be a New York landmark for years to come is incredibly inspiring," said Daniel Quiñonez. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize the contributions of Hispanic-owned businesses like Summit and the indelible impact they have left on The New Terminal One. #HispanicHeritageMonth #MWBE #Entrepreneurship #FamilyBusiness #ANewJFK

Together with The New Terminal One at JFK's lead sponsor Ferrovial, our team raised $16,000 at this year's St. Jude Walk/Run in New York City. The nationwide event, taking place during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, helps support the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Led by our Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing Joe Schwed. CSP, RPA, FMA, our team participated in the walk/run that started from Rockefeller Park facing the Hudson River. Despite yesterday's rainy weather, we were proud to contribute to St. Jude's mission as one of the top five NYC teams to raise funds at this event.
