Jitty

Today, Jitty becomes the most powerful way to search for homes in the UK 🙂 In the olden days of 2023 you could only really say “show me 2 bedrooms, in Bournemouth, up to £300k”. We all know that finding the right homes is more complex than that. Our aim with Jitty is to let everyone find their perfect home, and our latest update takes us a long way towards that. We set our AI off to look through photos and deeply understand homes for sale, so that we can show you only homes that you really want. Now with Jitty you can: 🏡 Search by exterior styles, to separate old Victorian homes from super flash newbuilds. 🧱 Search for interior styles like exposed brickwork, floor types, and high ceilings. 🛁 Search by interior features like stand-alone baths, walk-in showers or sash windows. 🏖️ Search for area vibes (™) like city vs town, near the sea, commute time to London, and access to your favourite food delivery service. That makes our list of filters quite crowded, so we’ve added the ability to type what you’re looking for and we’ll try to match it. Check out the video below, and try it out yourself. Before you ask - it’s very much not perfect. This is something of an experiment, to see if searching with natural language is useful or not. I was quite sceptical personally but I’ve found it way easier than clicking buttons, and weirdly fun. Loads more to come. As always, tell us what you want to see next. Proud to share that Jitty has the most basic feature: a map 🗺️ With just three engineers we're picky about what we work on. It's surprisingly hard to prioritise a table stakes feature when your aim is to stand out from the crowd. So when we finally got to it in our last Jit Pick session, we wanted to make sure it's the best map out there. So we asked users what was annoying about maps on other property sites. 🏡 We learned that people hated having a lot of homes hidden from the map. No more “Showing 100 homes (324 hidden)”. 🔍 BUT they also don’t want to 100s of price labels crowding over each other. 🙅 We learned that people hate the “search this area” button when they browse a map. They want “search this area” to be automatic. 🔭 And when they explore outside search bounds (e.g. search for "Bournemouth" and then slide over to Poole), they want the map to automatically update and show homes in Poole. 😅 Finally we learned that people didn’t need a topological map, which is a relief. So... we just did those things. This may sound like heresy, but I think sometimes users do know what they want. Due to some excellent execution from James and Daniel, we now have a map that is smoother to use than anywhere else. It is with great excitement that we welcome another member of Jitty 🙌 Liv Jacobson (née Quirke) joins us as Founders Associate, to help our founders drive Jitty forwards. She brings a tonne of experience from the startup world (Feed), real estate (The Modern House), and tech (Twitter). She’s also the biggest property nerd we’ve ever met. She’s a passionate Roomscroller, and her hobbies include “checking what a house ended up selling for on Land Registry to see if I guessed correctly”. Liv is going to be a fantastic asset in our mission to build the best way to browse the global property market.

So we've built an app that lets you do that. We’re super happy to announce that Greg Beech has joined Jitty as a software engineer. Greg is a force of nature and brings a wealth of experience, talent, and systems thinking to the team. And if we ever have a Jitty go-karting team, we now have someone to captain it. It’s good to have the band back together.
