From insightful breakout sessions to one-on-one career fair conversations, it was a great day full of learning and inspiration. We’re so glad to be part of this effort to encourage the next generation of public service professionals!

On Friday, September 27, Johnson County Government hosted a successful Pathway to Public Service Expo exclusively for high school students from across Johnson County. The event, held at the Johnson County Administration Building in Olathe, provided students with an invaluable opportunity to explore potential career paths in public service. 😁 🌻   Students attended breakout sessions led by various Johnson County Government departments, gaining insights into specific roles and responsibilities. A career fair was also held, allowing students to connect one-on-one with representatives from different departments and learn more about internships, jobs and career paths.   The goal of the event was to showcase the diverse opportunities available within Johnson County Government and to encourage students to consider a career in public service. • 🌿 Today is the International Day of Non-Violence, a day to honor the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, born on this day in 1869, and his powerful philosophy of non-violence. Gandhi believed that non-violence isn’t just a political tool but a way of life—one that values peace, empathy, and kindness in every action we take. In a world where conflict and stress are all too common, practicing non-violence in our thoughts, words, and deeds is crucial not only for societal harmony but also for our mental health. Acts of kindness, compassion, and understanding can reduce stress, build connection, and foster a sense of inner peace. Today, let’s reflect on how we can incorporate non-violence into our daily lives and make our world—and minds—a more peaceful place. #InternationalDayOfNonViolence #MentalHealthMatters #KindnessMatters

  • The month of October signifies National Substance Use Prevention Month — a time for communities to unite as partners in prevention. This month, we also recognize individuals in recovery and the children, parents, family members, and friends supporting them. Prevention isn’t just about stopping substance use — it’s about preventing it from progressing and reducing its harm. With a strong prevention playbook backed by decades of research and experience, we know that prevention works. By strengthening protective factors and reducing risks in our schools, families, and communities, we can help youth thrive and stay ahead of both substance use and mental health challenges ❤️ #SubstanceUsePreventionMonth #ksprevention
