As the Clinical Manager of the Pediatric Emergency Department, she’s known for her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to patient care. A dedicated member of Memorial Healthcare System since 2009, Jessica's commitment to helping others is deeply personal. After witnessing her younger sister's battle with breast cancer, she was driven to make a difference. Jessica's opportunity came when she learned that her colleague at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Wendy, had a husband who had been waiting for a kidney transplant for two years. Moved by Wendy's situation, Jessica decided to become a living kidney donor through the Memorial Transplant Institute, under the guidance of Dr. Heather LaGuardia, Medical Director of the Living Donor Program, Dr. Basit Javid, Chief, Abdominal Transplant Medicine and Dr. Linda Chen, Surgical Director of the Living Donor & Pediatric Transplant Program. Because Jessica was not a direct match for Wendy's husband, Kevin, she started the process of a "swap" living donor program with National Kidney Registry, which means that her kidney will go to someone else on the list, and Kevin will receive the next eligible match! This is a unique opportunity for both adults and children, offering life-saving transplants across generations and helping families when it matters most. Jessica’s story is a testament to the power of selflessness and collaboration in healthcare. While she continues to lead in the Emergency Department, her act of kindness now serves as an inspiration for others to consider the gift of organ donation. What is an EKG? Electrocardiograms (EKGs) are a simple, painless test that can detect signs of conditions linked to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Though not mandatory, many organizations have begun including EKGs in physicals required for their athletes. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Who We Play For, and the Florida Jr. Panthers partnered to bring EKG screenings to the Florida Jr. Panthers players. Together, the team screened over 80 athletes in an effort to identify abnormal heart rhythms or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. “EKGs don’t catch everything, and a normal EKG doesn’t necessarily mean your child will never have a heart problem, but EKGs can go a long way toward keeping kids safe”, Dr. Melissa Diamond, pediatric cardiologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital said. Fondly known as “Uncle J” to his friends' children, Jason brings a wealth of experience and a passion for pediatric care. A nature enthusiast, avid skier, biker, and hiker, Jason's adventurous spirit and dedication to patient care make him an invaluable asset to our team. Originally New York, and raised on Long Island, Jason values close family ties, regularly visiting his younger brother in Chicago. Before making his way down South, Jason lived in Colorado for 12 years where he enjoyed taking advantage of the nature and outdoor lifestyle. "I'm still so new here but coming from Colorado, it's really exciting to have access to the beautiful beaches," says Jason. 
 His commitment to patient care and extensive experience at Children's Hospital Colorado make him a valuable addition to our hospital's operations. Jason's enthusiasm for serving the community is mirrored by the passionate team at Memorial Healthcare System and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. "The people here are so passionate about the care we deliver and serving the community," says Jason. "It's also very clear that our caregivers feel well supported and that they are part of something bigger -- a family of people all trying to achieve the same goals."
