A key enabler to how I’m able to confidently navigate life transitions and multiple careers is having the support of community for each of my endeavors and interests. On Friday, we had the privilege of hosting an early screening of The American Question, A Documentary at Fabrik. If you're like me, you’re likely following this election season closely and wondering how we can bridge the deep divides in our country. While there’s no single answer, one word keeps resonating in these conversations: community. It’s our starting point. The American Question is out on October 29th and I highly recommend a watch ahead of November 5th.

Last night, I had the opportunity to host the premiere of The American Question, A Documentary project I have been a part of producing since the very beginning 8 years ago. I had no idea how it would be received. Would the audience laugh at the funny parts? Would they be engaged all 90 minutes? Would they think the end was cheesy? At a time when it feels like the only political story is about how the other side is evil, a story that explores the American identity and the glue that keeps us together as a nation could have felt out of place. But of the nearly 100 people in attendance, I rarely saw a phone opened, no one left mid-film, and everyone laughed at the funny parts. Most importantly, they stayed to ask Amy Chua and James Kicklighter thoughtful questions. I couldn’t be more optimistic and excited about the release on Tuesday, Oct 29. Pre-order it on Apple TV today and have your friends and family over to watch it together next week. There is no doubt in my mind that you’ll be inspired and talking about how you can ‘be the answer’ for awhile afterwards. https://lnkd.in/exFyNyFP And a huge thank you to Fabrik for the hospitality. My favorite new third space in the city!

The first "People Who Thrive" event on Wednesday night was a delight. A diverse group of New Yorkers came together at Fabrik, a new community space/ "third space" in TriBeCa. Annmarie Pisano spoke to the group about how tapping her network for help was critical to the launch of Pisano Slater Enterprises. Then, everyone had one minute to address the room and share their elevator pitch, an "ask" (something they need help with), and an "offer" (a way they can be of service to others). We have this notion that very successful people became that way because they put their heads down and put in the hours, but any successful person will tell you they had a lot of support. This is a forum for New Yorkers to talk about what they're working on and where they could use support, and put themselves out there to help others, too. "People Who Thrive" will meet monthly at Fabrik for the foreseeable future. Sign up for the November gathering here: https://lu.ma/56gbzt2e *You know when you attend a networking event organized by a personal chef that the food and drinks will be a little special. I'm really proud of the turnout (34 people!), but I'm also really proud of the self-serve cocktail/mocktail bar.

Last night’s event left me feeling incredibly thankful and inspired! The turnout was a powerful reminder of how much can be achieved when we come together as a community, especially around something as crucial as financial literacy. A special thank you again to everyone involved in making this event a reality and creating a space where women could connect, learn, and grow: Fabrik, Tawny Lara, Olivia Carpenter, Kate Webb The energy in the room was electric as we discussed financial literacy with a group of amazing women, all eager to take charge of their financial futures. It’s moments like these that fuel my passion for this work—because knowledge truly is power. When we provide women with the financial tools and insights they need, we open doors to life-changing decisions and opportunities. I’m excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to continue this journey, supporting each other along the way! #womensupportingwomen #FinancialLiteracy #WomenEmpowerment #KnowledgeIsPower #InspiringWomen #CommunityBuilding #FinancialFreedom #SupportEachOther

    Your corporate mechanic.

Super excited for #MakeWithNotion tomorrow – there are some big announcements, some of which I may or may not have beta tested. What else would one expect from Notion's first conference? Lukas and I are hosting a little #NotionNY watch party at Fabrik, the keynote starts at 1:30pm EST, and we'll definitely be geeking out together afterwards 🤓

Prerna Singh and I are bringing another breakfast to Fabrik next Wednesday, October 30th. Join us if you're looking for an authentic conversation with other local Product Leaders ... just ask former attendees :) ⤵️ "I love these breakfasts because they bring together open, insightful and creative leaders in the market to discuss timely and relevant topics in a curated, inclusive, and very interactive way. Jori and Prerna do an impeccable job prepping and facilitating which results in meaningful discussion. You can tell everyone is engaged because we get to hear from almost everyone on each topic (also a testament to Jori and Prerna's facilitation skills). I always leave with a new insight into the market or idea on how I could be applying a learning to myself or my business." https://lu.ma/ri1m9s8l

Six days from today! I'm hosting "People Who Thrive," a networking event with a community-building twist at Fabrik in TriBeCa on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7pm. Everyone has one minute to address the group and share their elevator pitch, an "ask" (something they need help with), and an "offer" (a way they can be of service to others). When we're going after our goals and dreams, hyper-independence isn't actually that effective (nor is cold outreach). But "interdependence" is way more effective. We never know who knows someone who knows someone who can help us in a big way, and this is a forum to get comfortable with asking, receiving, and creating more connection among New Yorkers. Speaking personally, New York City can feel isolating, especially when you work a lot of hours as a business owner or self-employed person. My hope in launching this event is that New Yorkers who are "doing the thing" can have more support and community as they pursue their best lives. Registration link: https://lu.ma/xmr6x7uq
