In the latest "Focus On" feature, PM360 Magazine asked industry experts how patient feedback plays an important role in enhancing the patient experience. Anhchi Ha, VP, Digital Marketing, emphasized the importance of patient insights: "By listening to patients as the end user, pharmaceutical companies can identify specific challenge points—such as missing information, issues with functionality, or problems accessing essential features—which might not be apparent without user perspective." Did you know that women are more likely than men to die from a heart attack? While more commonly known symptoms like chest pain apply to both men and women, women often experience subtler symptoms such as shortness of breath and back pain. These symptoms can occur even in the absence of obvious chest discomfort, making heart attacks harder to detect in women. Lipid panels for cholesterol testing are among the most comprehensive methods to determine high cholesterol, a leading cause of cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. The Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) is dedicated to supporting women’s health and is advocating for policymakers and clinicians to join the #ReadMyLips campaign, which emphasizes the importance of women knowing their risk factors for heart disease and understanding the critical role of cholesterol screening—specifically, lipid panel testing—in maintaining heart health. JPA is proud to work with SWHR on this recent phase of the Read My Lips campaign in time for National Cholesterol Education Month, which now includes a new interactive game on the website to test your knowledge of heart health risk factors! Today is National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day—a day dedicated to honoring elderly individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and raising awareness about the ongoing challenges they face. Over the past 40 years, more than 40 million lives have been lost to HIV or AIDS-related illnesses, and an estimated 39 million people currently live with the virus worldwide. While significant progress has been made in prevention and treatment, aging individuals face unique challenges, including stigma, discrimination, and a lack of cultural competence in healthcare settings. These barriers can deter them from seeking necessary medical attention, including HIV testing and care. To effectively address these issues, we must adopt inclusive strategies that consider the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ elders. By fostering a healthcare environment that uses inclusive language and embraces cultural competence, we can improve access to care and support for this vulnerable population. The Physicians Foundation has released its 2024 Survey of America's Current and Future Physicians, serving as a vital guide to understanding, addressing, and supporting physicians, residents, and medical students. While there are some signs of improvement in physicians’ emotional outlook, the overall state of well-being remains low. For the fourth consecutive year, six in ten physicians report frequent feelings of burnout, and stigma and structural barriers continue to prevent current and future physicians from seeking mental health care. Alarmingly, four in ten physicians are fearful or know a colleague who is fearful of seeking mental health care due to questions asked in medical licensure, credentialing, or insurance applications. While the challenges to physician well-being are daunting, the solutions presented in this report offer hope. Read the full survey to learn more about physician well-being, and for additional resources and to raise awareness, visit NPSADay.org #NPSADay #SuicidePreventionMonth
