Empowering eye care and neurology communities through remote monitoring of disease.
About us
JuneBrain is an early start-up company based in the Washington, DC area. Our mission is to develop a telehealth eye-scanning system that allows clinicians to monitor patients with eye and brain disease outside of the traditional clinical setting, leading to earlier detection of new disease and improved monitoring of treatment efficacy. Though our mission begins in the eye care community, our long-term goal is to extend the use of our device into the broader neurological disease population, thus creating a pathway towards more frequent, widely accessible monitoring of eye and brain health.

Today is Ageism Awareness Day. Ageism refers to the stereotypes, discrimination, and negative attitudes directed at individuals based on their age. It impacts both younger and older individuals in various ways, including: Stereotyping: Making assumptions about someone's abilities or behaviors based on their age. For instance, older adults might be seen as less tech-savvy, while younger individuals may be viewed as inexperienced. Discrimination: Treating people unfairly in different contexts, such as the workplace, healthcare, or social interactions, simply because of their age. Social Exclusion: Older adults may find themselves marginalized or overlooked in discussions and activities, while younger people might be dismissed as lacking knowledge or maturity. Language and Media: Media representations can reinforce age-related stereotypes, often portraying older adults as frail or disconnected, and younger individuals as irresponsible or naive. Impact: Ageism can lead to serious consequences, including negative health effects, decreased self-esteem, and limited opportunities. Addressing ageism requires raising awareness, encouraging intergenerational relationships, and advocating for inclusive policies that respect individuals of all ages. #AgeismAwarenessDay #ValueEveryAge #EndAgeism

Older Latino and African American populations are more susceptible to Alzheimer's and other dementias compared to their Caucasian counterparts. This increased vulnerability may be linked to higher rates of vascular disease within these groups, which could elevate their risk of developing Alzheimer's. Making healthy lifestyle choices such as eating well, exercising both your mind and body, avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol intake, managing your overall health, having a strong support system, and getting quality sleep can significantly decrease the risk of developing Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaPrevention #CognitiveHealth
