Join us on Juneteenth, June 19th, for Opal’s Walk For Freedom, a 2.5-mile walk in recognition of the 2.5 years it took for the news and enforcement of freedom to reach the enslaved people in Texas. This is an inaugural event for the City of Chicago. Check-in starts at 7:30am, the walk starts at 9am. The starting point for the walk is 31st Street Beach, north to 18th St., and then back to 31st Street Beach.
