We had the pleasure of working with Kurt Lesker, the President and CEO of Kurt J. Lesker Company, during our most recent Build with Kanbrick cohort.   A regional winner and national finalist in EY's Entrepreneur of the Year program, Kurt has led significant growth at his family's multi-generational business and has helped establish Kurt J. Lesker Company as a leading global supplier of vacuum technology solutions. "Get out of the board room and into the war room" Last month, leaders gathered at the Forbes Iconoclast Summit to discuss the future of business and share disruptive ideas. During the event our Co-Founder, Tracy B., shared more about Kanbrick's approach to building great businesses over the long-term. She also shared the inspiration behind creating the Kanbrick Community and how her personal experience as a CEO highlighted how lonely building a midsize business can be. An energizing morning of connection and conversation with our Kanbrick Community Chicago group. We hosted close to 40 CEOs, owners, and founders leading midsize businesses in the Chicagoland area. We spent time discussing people and hiring great executive talent, top trends, and top challenges. We genuinely enjoyed working with and learning from Austin Lee, President of Bay City Electric Works, during our most recent Build with Kanbrick cohort. Austin has held a variety of roles over the course of his 15+ years at the company and has helped establish Bay City as a premier provider of generator, power, and engine solutions in the western United States. As he works to position Bay City for its next phase of growth, he sought out thought partners and additional resources to help inform his approach, which led him to the Build with Kanbrick program. Dzmitry Miranovich, a member of our most recent Build with Kanbrick cohort and the Co-Founder and CEO of Associated Veterinary Partners (AVP), is working to help veterinarians focus on providing gold-standard medicine while worrying less about the burden of non-clinical tasks. Dzmitry sought out the Build with Kanbrick program to help refine AVP's operating system and ensure that they are creating the best possible outcomes for the 16 veterinary clinics (and counting) that they have partnered with since their inception in 2021. The Kanbrick Community enjoyed hosting 30 CEOs, owners, and founders in Denver this week. We had great conversation over lunch on strategy, met new leaders, and had a pretty tremendous view thanks to Daniel Sturman! Chad M. Peterman, the President and CEO of Peterman Brothers Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, was a member of our most recent Build with Kanbrick cohort. Peterman Brothers, a family-owned business that his father started out of their garage in 1986, has undergone significant growth under Chad's leadership - so much so that Chad was awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Midwest Award in 2023.
