About us

The mission of the Kane County Regional Office of Education is to advocate for education, provide leadership, perform regulatory functions, and coordinate state and local services for educators, school districts, and the community. Alternative Program: Part of our Alternative Program division is our Youth Outreach Workers; counselors that assist schools and students with truancy prevention. The Kane County ROE also offers the Equal Chance Program which advocates for homeless student education. This program is administered by the Area One Lead Program and funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education through the McKinney–Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 2001. Our alternative programs department assists with at-risk youth and their families facing atypical circumstances within the school system, whether it be homelessness, truancy, expulsion, or delinquency. As stated by the Illinois State Board of Education, regional offices of education are also responsible for investigating noncompliance within private, homeschool arrangements. Partnerships & Communication: Our biggest annual celebration is our Educator Of The Year Awards Ceremony in which we honor teachers, administrators and support staff. To learn more about our involvement and events with external organizations and our school districts, please subscribe to our semimonthly newsletter and visit us on our social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. Testing Center: Tests that can be taken at the ROE include the GED, Constitution Test, Paraprofessional Test, and more. Transcripts from testing can be provided upon request.

  • Throughout the year, Regional Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents from Area 1 connect either in-person or virtually to discuss statewide initiatives. Last week, our office hosted guests from North and South Cook ISC, West 40 ISC, and the Counties of DuPage, Grundy/Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will. Thank you for joining us to talk through the latest trends in education and how we can continue to best serve our school districts.

  • National School Bus Safety Week is fast approaching, and we encourage our Kane County educators to join us in sharing the fundamentals of keeping our students and staff secure on the road! This evolving education program, scheduled October 21-25, is meant to highlight not only best practices when riding the bus, but also when at the bus stop, entering and exiting, and traffic laws when driving near busses. The Kane County ROE offers multiple bus driver trainings each month, and we take pride in playing a role in preparing drivers to safely serve our communities. Yesterday, West Aurora 129 staff also welcomed us to spend the afternoon at their Transportation Center to capture some content and see their routes in action. We appreciate the chance to meet some your drivers and tour your facility! Need National School Bus Safety Week resources for your classroom? Visit: https://lnkd.in/ewudYvxQ
