About us
Karma for Cara Foundation is a nonprofit founded by 21-year-old Cara Becker and her family while she was being treated for leukemia at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in October of 2012. At a young age, Cara became involved in community service, and she and her family saw a tremendous need to support other patients who were going through the same challenging treatment. Tragically, Cara passed away in December 2012 due to complications from leukemia. Her dream lives on through the vision and works of the foundation, and her family & friends remain inspired by Cara's example of service and interest in helping others, even when she herself was in need of help. K4C’s mission consists of two objectives: 1. To promote and support youth engagement and service to others in communities throughout the US. 2. To work to reduce the suffering of cancer patients and their families.

Karma for Cara microgrant awardees undertake projects to better their communities & we proudly support them in those endeavors. Today we call attention to the youth & their teams who are on the ground supporting people experiencing homelessness. Whether providing food, warm clothing in the winter, toiletries, words and notes of encouragement or any combination of those items, these young people are reaching out to some of our most vulnerable citizens in need. Truly it is our youth who will repair our world. Read about the good they and their fellow microgrant awardees are doing in their communities here: https://lnkd.in/eyKKXiu
