Wandering through Napoli's ancient streets on tour with KARUNA PROJECT , Greek and Roman ruins lend tales of the past. I'm struck by the connection between ages. These remnants of ingenuity and culture remind us of humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge and progress. Reflecting the marvelous history that has taken place in Napoli, I'm captivated by today's possibilities, especially with Technology. Just as the ancient Greeks and Romans harnessed their intellect to shape their world, we're at a crossroads, using advanced technologies to redefine our future. 🤯 The parallels are striking—from the monumental architecture across the Mediterranean to the digital architectures of AI, we're building a legacy of innovation. Yet, amidst progress, let's try and honor history's lessons. Unfortunately, this is one thing Humanity is not very good at. Today I walked about the ancient city of Pompei. My conclusion was just that. Why can't humans collectively, learn from the past? What do you think ? I would like to hope that individual work, inner development and collective consciousness remain at the heart through our technological journey. 🙏 🙏 🙏 PS: The food in Napoli is second to none! Enjoy the photos! #Napoli #AncientWisdom #FutureTech #AI #Humanity #Innovation #CulturalHeritage #ReflectAndProgress KARUNA PROJECT Nicole Blaser

Exploring Sardegna with KARUNA PROJECT is like stepping into a living history book. From the ancient civilizations and their iconic stone towers to the various rulers that have shaped this Mediterranean gem, every corner of Sardegna tells a story of resilience and cultural fusion. Traveling around this island not only broadens our understanding of the past but also fosters a deep sense of empathy. Walking among these historical landmarks, we begin to appreciate the intricate human experience and spirit of the people who have called this place home. As we travel, we build connections and gain new perspectives that transcend time and geography. This journey teaches us that history is not just a series of dates and events, but a profound narrative that continues to influence and inspire. Embrace the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of those who came before us. 🌍✨ . . Founder @ Karuna Project | Driving Social Impact through Adventure Travel | Reconnecting Humans to Humanity | Inner Development for Outer Change

As I journey from Copenhagen 🇩🇰 to Hamburg 🇩🇪 via 🚂 , I find myself reflecting on the most effective ways to create positive social change through adventure travel, and considering the associated needs. 🌍 While I may have some insights into the requirements of rural Nepal, Tanzania, Peru, Patagonia, and beyond, the true experts are those who live and study the sociological dynamics of the countries in which the KARUNA PROJECT operates. Historically, assumptions about the needs of the Global South have been made by wealthy, predominantly white Europeans. While international aid for disasters is vital, we must rethink these traditional humanitarian approaches when implementing social impact initiatives. The question that continually arises for me, given my privileges, is: how can we amplify the voices of silenced and marginalized populations worldwide? 🤔 Please tell me your thoughts 🙏 How can we facilitate the inclusion of village elders from the communities we work with, allowing them to participate in global conferences like the amazing Inner Development Goals conference we just attended in Stockholm 🇸🇪 ? P What do you think?🙏 As I we continue to travel, the ideas, learnings, and reflections continue to unfold. My thoughts return to my past 20 years of leading leadership development and cross-cultural immersive expeditions. While the primary goal is for guests and students to grow and learn, my attention is drawn to the development of the local people in the areas we operate. What about their growth? What about their needs? The KARUNA PROJECT is dedicated to exploring how we can provide more meaningful experiences for the communities we engage with while on trekking, climbing and river expeditions worldwide. We are also working with Leadership development organizations and Executive consultants to host groups in novel environments throughout the world. 🌎 Here are some of my photographs and cherished memories of our friends around the world. 🌍 ❤️ #love #humanity #connection #empathy #compassion #karuna #karunaproject

We at the KARUNA PROJECT are truly feeling the love and inspiration from our week in Stockholm, Sweden. Attending the Inner Development Goals summit reinforced our belief in the importance of healing ourselves, unlearning outdated systemic ways, and cultivating new pathways and connections. Our work in facilitating leadership development and cross-cultural education courses in diverse environments around the world has always centered on one key outcome: Connection. Connection to self, others, spirit, purpose, and the earth. We invite you to join us in exploring the profound question: What does it mean to be alive and human on this planet? Help us uncover the answers and reconnect humanity to its essence. Thank you to the Inner Development Goals team for hosting such a wonderful conference. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Shanti. Here are some photos from our incredible week in Stockholm. 📸 Seth Quigg, M.A. 🌍

Below is a reflection from a KARUNA PROJECT guest on our last Nepal expedition. "After 36 hours of travel, I landed in Kathmandu, greeted by the chaos and beauty of a city so alive with color and culture. Our first days were spent preparing for the trek, but the moments that stayed with me were visiting Kakani School, bringing jackets and a new water pump, and sipping tea while gazing at the Himalayas. Walking through sacred sites like Pashupatinath Temple, where life and death are intertwined in ways I had never seen, opened my heart and mind. The real journey began as we flew to Lukla, the ‘most dangerous flight in the world,' (which should come with a complimentary parachute) with 15 days and 111 miles ahead of us. The excitement of our adventure clashed with my growing sickness, which turned into walking pneumonia. But even at my lowest, when every breath felt like a battle, the mountains and the people around me kept me going. Tengboche was a magical place where I received a blessing from a monk, and I know that blessing carried me through my hardest days. Reaching Everest Base Camp was a dream I’ve had since I was a child. Standing at the base of that iconic mountain, with the Khumbu Icefall glistening in front of me, was beyond surreal. That moment made every step, every struggle worth it. Saying goodbye to a few teammates who returned home was emotional—there’s a bond you form when you face such challenges together. Then came the snow, Cho La Pass, and Gokyo Lake—each more stunning and more humbling than the last. Crossing glaciers and climbing high passes, I felt a profound connection to the land and the people with me. Gokyo Ri was my personal triumph. After everything I had gone through, I felt strong, accomplished, and truly happy. As the trek wound down, crossing Renjo La was bittersweet. The trek was ending, but I was leaving with a heart full of gratitude and pride. Celebrating in Lukla with our guides and porters was a night I’ll never forget. The return to Kathmandu marked the end of the journey but also the beginning of something new inside me. This trek changed me, reminding me of my resilience and the beauty in both struggle and triumph. If you ever have the chance to do something like this—take it. The Himalayas, the people, and the experience will stay with me forever."

Eternally appreciative of the deserts and wild expanses of the American West. One can feel the weight of history in every rock, every layer, every waterway. Furthermore, our contemporary cultural frameworks prompt us to reflect on the essence of humanity—where we have come from, where we stand, and where we are heading. In the wake of technological advancements, I am convinced there is and will be an even greater need for a profound human connection to the land, mountains, rivers, oceans, and the broader natural world. In the United States, modernity has largely severed many from a deep, sacred bond with what it means to be truly human and alive, though it has also heightened life's efficiencies. My thoughts are drawn to the wisdom of Edward Abbey in his work, Desert Solitaire:, "One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am—a reluctant enthusiast...a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: You will outlive the bastards." #adventuretravel #utah #utahgetmetwo✌️ #desert #desertsolitaire #wildutah #namche #namchebazar #karunaproject #karuna

For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of traveling and leading expeditions across the globe. #KARUNA PROJECT Photography began as a way to document the present moment—the recently made friends, the scents, the sounds, the temperature, and my emotions at that time. It has since become my method of journaling. As I review my photographs from the past two decades, each image transports me back to those vivid and surreal experiences. I strongly encourage all travelers, tourists, and sojourners to find a way to preserve these special moments in time. . . . #photography #travelphotography #adventuretravel #karunaproject

Good morning, everyone! We still have 4 spots available for our upcoming Yoga and Trekking trip to Nepal from November 9-23, 2024. We understand that the terms “Yoga” and “Trekking” might seem daunting, so we want to clarify what this trip entails. Yoga encompasses eight aspects, with physical postures (Asana) being just one of them. You don’t need prior Yoga experience or exceptional fitness and flexibility. We’ll also explore meditation, breath work, devotion, and mantras. The trekking portion of the trip offers a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery while exploring the stunning Langtang Valley north of Kathmandu. Many people find these activities intimidating, but with the guidance of myself and Monica Mesa Dasi, we will support and facilitate your learning journey. Unplug, disconnect from screens, discover more about yourself, and gain a new perspective. Join us November 9-23, 2024 for an incredible experience.

As technology continues to advance globally, the intrinsic human need for face-to-face, physical, and experiential real-life interactions becomes increasingly essential. No technological substitute can replicate the experience of exploring a new canyon with friends via raft and kayak, or enjoying some of the finest fly fishing in the United States. If you’re looking to disconnect from screens, unplug, and challenge yourself, explore our expeditions at www.karuna-project.com. #GunniGorge #OneLife #LiveNow #Explore
