Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore, a dynamic program that brought together global leaders, investors, and innovators. The discussions around the future of healthcare, sustainability, and the evolving landscape of Asia's markets were thought-provoking, and I came away with a much stronger understanding of how deeply connected we are across economies. Beyond the Summit, I also had the pleasure of engaging in additional key events across Singapore and Japan: 🌟Participated in the first Milken Asia Healthcare Summit with a focus on breakthrough innovations in longevity and women’s health 🌟Connected with the amazing YLC community, a hub of emerging leaders driving positive change across industries. 🌟Had a wonderful exchange of ideas with Eriko Suzuki and a group of wonderful Japanese angel investors, ideating on ways to improve economic growth for women globally. 🌟And of course, caught some of the excitement of Formula 1, as Singapore came alive with energy during the race weekend! Looking forward to continuing these conversations and building new bridges for collaboration in the near future! #MIGlobal #MilkenAsiaSummit #HealthcareInnovation #VentureCapital #Formula1 #Singapore #Tokyo #YLC

One of my favorite athletes to watch during the #Paris2024 Olympics was Australian high jumper Nicola Olyslagers. Her athleticism is beyond impressive but even moreso is her mindset. You might have noticed her writing in her notebook between jumps. After each jump she rates her performance, provides feedback for the next round, and writes motivational quotes. It serves as a reset to get her in the right space for her next move. Additionally, she comes prepared, recruits champions, and stays positive: 📒She approaches each jump with extreme consistency, having put in the reps 📒 She builds support from the crowd before every attempt, raising the energy and building hype 📒 She smiles and cheers for herself after every jump, whether or not she clears the bar We can learn so much about building a performance mindset from athletes like Nicola. Who else did you learn from this Olympics? Would love to hear more stories about the individuals behind the sports! https://lnkd.in/gf7xZjZu #olympics #positivepsychology #mindset #womeninsports #performance

The Olympic Village has offered athletes and their delegations free healthcare since the 1932 Los Angeles Games. But not many athletes know the option exists. Ariana Ramsey, OLY is changing that.
Ariana Ramsey, came to Paris as a rugby player. She is leaving as a healthcare influencer. Her viral statement on TikTok, “Like, what?!”, epitomizes many American's reaction to the US healthcare system, which often results in high costs and confusion for patients. Now, US Olympians are using their time at Paris 2024 to get basic preventative healthcare they may not be able to afford at home. Some quick stats: 🎗 More than a quarter of US athletes report earning less than $15k per year 🎗 40% said they paid out of pocket for healthcare (average pp cost of $9.2k) Athletes like Ariana are taking to social and building their brands just to earn enough to compete... and to hopefully cover their healthcare costs. Curious for thoughts on how we can better resource our athletes. Comment below - I'd love to hear your ideas. #sports #olympics #healthcare #womenshealth #womeninsports #athletes https://lnkd.in/g8AJsUvn

The ability to boost representation through sports is incredible to see through the lens of The 2024 Olympics in Paris. As Coach Kemper shares in her recent Op-ed: “Throughout history, sports have been a unique bridge between nations, fostering dialogue and understanding where politics often falter. Today, despite the geopolitical tensions between major powers, sports continue to offer a platform for dialogue, collaboration, mutual respect and most of all — fun!“
"The first time women were allowed to compete in the Olympic Games was in Paris in 1900; they made up just 2.2 percent of competitors. 👟 Now for the first time ever, back in Paris, female athletes not only have equal representation at the games — women have brought home the majority of medals for Team USA so far." 🥇 Loved this OpEd from Coach Kathy Kemper in The Hill on the impact of sports diplomacy. https://lnkd.in/gd2CenEV #womeninsports #olympics #gender #representation

What we're following: Advancing women’s health research and innovation in sports. The Olympics is shining a light on the incredible performance, resilience, and spirit of women athletes. It's exciting to see the work from groups like Kynisca Innovation Hub to advance this space.
Only 6% of sports science data is focused exclusively on women, leading to a wide gap in our understanding of how to best support our athletes. Michele Kang wants to change that, pledging $50M through Kynisca Innovation Hub to pioneer of female performance research, "so we can stop training women as if they are simply small men.” I had the pleasure of hearing from Michelle Kang (owner of the Washington Spirit, Olympique Lyonnais Groupe Féminin and London City Lionesses soccer teams) at The Milken Institute conference earlier this year and was blown away by the mark she's making on the future of sports. Shoutout to Gillian Tan for this brilliant piece. https://lnkd.in/g88iHwhk #womeninsports #womenshealth #research Kaya Ventures
