Bringing women's health - from menopause to Medicare - into the 21st century. Because women deserve better.
The brilliant Dorothy Gemmell points out the massive out of pocket costs women face in this great piece. It's $39.3 billion out of pocket on healthcare last year, 30% more than men spend. Women - regardless of their insurance status - are paying an unspoken premium simply to maintain their health. Dorothy cites research from Elektra Health's actuarial study which finds women diagnosed as having symptoms of menopause incur 45% more healthcare costs (and that's according to claims data, so excludes copays and the out-of-pocket expenses). https://lnkd.in/ejAw-Fry https://lnkd.in/exUm3Ete
