Helping Women Leaders Jump Into Senior Management in 12 Months 💠  ICF PCC Certified | Follow for daily tips about the leadership skills you need to rise

Leadership style can result in 150% increase in performance. (McKinsey) “A “boring” manager with a high EQ who puts others first is often the better boss in the long run.” Traditional management hits targets—human-centered leadership changes the game. → Human-centered leadership goes beyond control. What you might think: ❌ It’s all about hitting KPIs → Nope. ❌ Directing people gets results → Wrong. ❌ Rely on authority to lead → Ineffective. Want to lead with impact? Empower your team: ✅ Trust and delegate: Encourage ownership. ✅ Connect with people: Understand their strengths. ✅ Foster a growth mindset: Inspire continuous learning. ✅ Create Space for Innovation: Let new ideas flourish without fear. ✅ Lead with Purpose: Focus on long-term growth over short-term wins. It’s not about telling people what to do. It’s about helping them see what they can do. Because when you invest in people, that’s how you REALLY lead. • Regain your power, one question at a time. How are you responding to life’s hill and valley moments? Who are you turning to for constructive feedback? What are the conversations you are having with yourself (about yourself) when times seem most difficult? Setbacks happen…and so do comebacks. What we say and what we hear can inform what we do. Work on making sure what you are hearing and doing are constructive.

TEDx Speaker | I help organisations create mentally healthy, happy workforces for racialised employees

💼 It's time to expand our vocabulary and deepen our understanding of Black women's experiences in the workplace. I'm about to school you on some important terms every leader, manager, HR, DEI, and Wellbeing pro should know: 📚 Essential Glossary: Understanding Black Women's Workplace Challenges 📖 Intersectionality Coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw, intersectionality highlights how social identities like race and gender overlap, creating intertwined systems of discrimination. For Black women, it's not just about gender OR race separately - it's both amplified together, resulting in unique, compounded forms of disadvantage that can't be fully captured by looking at either identity alone. 🔄 🧱 Concrete CeilingUnlike the glass ceiling, which women generally face, Black women encounter the concrete ceiling—an even tougher, nearly impenetrable barrier to career advancement. Breaking through requires extraordinary effort and resilience, making it a harsher reality in corporate spaces. 🚨 Glass Cliff When Black women finally ascend to leadership roles, it’s often during a crisis. They’re handed roles with high risk and low support; if things go wrong, they are blamed. This is the glass cliff, where failure is almost built into the role. 👁️ Intersectional Invisibility Black women often feel both hyper-visible(constantly under scrutiny) and invisible (their contributions overlooked). They don’t fit the stereotypical image of a “leader” or “professional,” leading to them being ignored or undermined while their every move is still intensely scrutinised. 💡 These terms represent real obstacles faced by Black women in the workplace. Now that you're familiar, how will you dismantle these barriers? It’s time to take action and create a space where Black women can thrive.

  • Although your employer can find someone to “replace” you, your unique ways of being, loving and giving to the world are irreplaceable…especially to your loved ones. You deserve to exist and thrive. No workplace should ever have you question (or not operate from) that truth.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around why an employee at Wells Fargo was found dead at her desk days after she last clocked into work. When Wells Fargo makes the news it's never good news. This situation is the epitome of why I cringe when companies say, "We're a big family." No one from her workplace family went to look for her: her boss, leadership team, co-workers, anyone else???? Not one person?? Imagine clocking in for work, thinking you're part of a 'work family,' only for that family to fail to notice when something goes tragically wrong. This heartbreaking incident is a harsh reminder of how workplaces can sometimes overlook the human side of their employees. A recent conversation Dominick Namis and I had. He also inspired today's post. This tragedy that should have never happened but it teaches us a vital lesson: While our jobs are important, we must never forget to prioritize our real families and personal well-being. Yes, you see these kinds of posts ALL THE TIME. But please make sure you REALLY SEE IT THIS TIME. The people who truly care for you aren't your coworkers (there are exceptions, of course)—it's you're friends and family - they're the ones waiting for you to come home every day. Set clear boundaries between work and personal life. Your job should never consume you to the point where your health and well-being are compromised. Make time for those who matter most—friends, family, and most importantly yourself. As an Executive Coach, I believe you should always advocate for yourself in the workplace and ensure that your contributions are recognized. AND. I also believe that you are more than your job. Your job is a part of your life, not your entire life. #aLITTLEadvice

Imagine working in a place where your hard work goes unnoticed, your efforts are not appreciated, and you could be replaced instantly. It is not an ideal environment to work in for a long time. As a leader, it is not the kind of working environment that you would want to develop or sustain. This raises an important question: How do you show your employees that you value them? Recognizing and appreciating your team members’ hard work can tremendously impact their motivation and happiness. A simple gesture of gratitude, such as a warm greeting or a personalized note, can show that you genuinely value their efforts. Remembering names, actively listening, and building relationships beyond work demonstrate that you genuinely care. Some leaders take these things for granted, but believe me, your employees will feel truly valued. Leadership is all about people; the little things make a huge difference, and the organizations that value their teams are the ones that ultimately succeed. Inspire your team with our Amazon bestseller, “Unlock the Hidden Leader: Become The Leader You Were Destined To Be.” This book has already transformed countless leaders; now it’s your turn. One of the top reasons employees leave a company is the lack of development opportunities.
