(2015) Research dissemination on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Data Mining, and Big Data.
About us
This page is dedicated to disseminating research products/publications on artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, image processing, data mining and big data with various application domains such as healthcare informatics and medical imaging, document imaging, biometrics, forensics, speech analysis and Internet of Things. The 2AI research lab is completely aligned with those AI programs at The University of South Dakota. If you want to get funded to pursue your graduate program (even undergrad), write email as soon as you can (kc.santosh@usd.edu). Funds are available. Important note: As our research lab is growing from 5 members (in 2015) to 25 (in 2022), we rebrand our previous title "kc's PAMI Research Lab" by "Applied AI Research Lab."

Interesting event - 2AI club!
𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐩 - 𝟐𝐀𝐈 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 🚀 In our 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮 session at the 𝟮𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 in the USD Computer Science Department, University of South Dakota, I dove deeper into the architecture behind GPT models, building upon our previous discussion on Transformers. I covered a lot of ground, starting with the 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟳 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 "𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱" and moved through key advancements such as: • 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴: "𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴" • 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵: "𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀" (𝗚𝗣𝗧-𝟮) • 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬: "𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝘄-𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀" (𝗚𝗣𝗧-𝟯) 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟳𝟱𝗕 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀! The session highlighted the major advancements across these models and explored the differences between 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 and 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 architectures, as well as the 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗣𝗧 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀. Additionally, I’d like to give a special mention to Sebastian Raschka, PhD book, 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 (𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵), which has helped me grasp the nuts and bolts behind LLMs and their building pipeline. It’s an excellent resource for anyone looking to gain deeper insights into LLMs. As we prepare to build the 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗚𝗣𝗧 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹, these foundational concepts will be crucial to understanding how GPT works. 🛠️ Thank you for attending the session professor Rodrigue Rizk and professor Lina S. Chato professor KC Santosh thank you for your insights for betterment of the club. Looking forward to seeing everyone next week as we continue coding 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗚𝗣𝗧 together! #AI #GPT3 #2AIClub #USD #PeerLearning #LLM #SebastianRaschka #DeepLearning #Transformers #ChatGPT #GenAI

This is how our research scholar stands out - thanks to CBBRe for this opportunity. Kudos to Casey Wall (PhD student in Data Science & Engineering program). #artificialintelligence #datascience #machinelearning
The Center for Brain and Behavior Research’s (CBBRe) research symposium took place from August 12-13 in the University of South Dakota (USD) in the Muenster University Center (MUC) ballroom. Casey Wall, a doctoral student in the Data Science & Engineering program within USD Computer Science Department and a research scientist at the USD Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (𝟚ᗩ𝕀), delivered a talk focused on AI's role in augmenting human morality and the current practices in the field of #ExplainableAI (XAI). This topic is closely related to his co-authored book, "AI, Ethical Issues, and Explainability—Applied Biometrics" (URL: https://lnkd.in/d_DKiHP5). Over the two-day period, a wide variety of talks were given. Topics included neuroethics, institutional review board (IRB) standards, ethical health care after brain trauma, ethical neuromarketing, and many others. #GoYotes 🐾
