  • The June HORNET AWARD was presented to Jen Hall. Excerpts from the nomination: Mrs. Hall is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher with a great deal of experience working with special education and underprivileged students. When the building needs assistance in any capacity, from behavior to academics, Jen is readily available to help. Most recently, Jen orchestrated the field trips for the entire student body at AMS - contacting the sites, permission slips, parent communication, staff communication, funds, etc. This was a huge undertaking and it was managed with complete poise and professionalism. Thus, students motivated by good behavior, were able to experience roller skating, a Flint City Bucks game and other awesome experiences outside of the school setting. Jen collaborates with the special education department and the ELA department as an invaluable team member. Mrs. Hall is an advocate for students, their needs and following processes and procedures. It is such a pleasure having Jen as part of the Kearsley family! Thank you to the Mark Owen Agency, LLC for their continued support of this award. #PrideTraditionExcellence

  • Congratulations to Kearsley High School teacher, Amy Graham, on her upcoming retirement at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Excerpts from Mr. Gaudard's dedication at the KHS Service Awards: Amy Graham came to Kearsley as a teacher in 1994 after graduating from Michigan State and has primarily taught health with a little math sprinkled in. In addition, she has coached golf and volleyball. Amy assisted many after-school events over the years including prom and was the leader of the SADD program. I believe Amy’s biggest strength is the incredible relationships she builds with her students. Teaching mainly freshmen isn’t always an easy task and she only has most of her students for a semester but she manages to create lasting connections. Amy does this while still holding her students accountable and maintaining high standards. Amy was recognized in March as the Flint Area Teacher of the Year at the Firebirds game and the outpouring of appreciation and gratitude was really incredible. One former student said this about Amy in her nomination - “Mrs. Graham’s teaching style and her connections with students are amazing. I loved her class almost as much as I admired who she is as a person. I have not met a more deserving person or educator who deserves this award more” Congratulations Amy Graham on your retirment! #PrideTraditionExcellence

  • The May HORNET AWARD was presented to Kevin Fallscheer Excerpts from the nominations: Chef Kevin has been such an outstanding addition to our Kearsley Community Schools. He has completely changed the atmosphere at the high school this year with his commitment to providing our students and staff with new experiences in the cafeteria. Chef Kevin has not just been committed to providing a varied and delicious menu, but has also succeeded in providing new learning surrounding world cultures, as well. Students are now happliy buzzing around asking each other and staff alike, "Do you know what Chef Kevin is making this week?" This has created such positivity in our building and it is truly refreshing. We all know that food can connect people, and Chef Kevin is using his creative culinary genius to do exactly that. Thank you to the Mark Owen Agency, LLC for their continued support of this award. Photo: Board President Richard Hill, Kevin Fallscheer, and Superintendent Paul Gaudard
