Recycle Styrofoam at the Household Products Collection Center Tempe and Guadalupe residents can now recycle Styrofoam packaging from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Household Products Collection Center (HPCC), 1320 E. University Drive. Acceptable Styrofoam items include blocks, chunks or coolers. Pieces should be firm and not bendable and should produce white pellets when torn. Plates, cups, trays, peanuts or spongy foam are not eligible for recycling. Styrofoam does not belong in your blue recycling bin and can contaminate the entire recycling load. “Styrofoam recycling is something we have historically offered at Zero Waste Day events,” said Environmental Hazardous Materials Supervisor Tim Miller. “We know how important expanded recycling options are to our residents. We’re proud to offer this new program alongside many others at our Household Products Collection Center.” Tempe’s HPCC is a drive-thru facility that offers many recycling and environmentally responsible disposable options for Tempe and Guadalupe residents. In addition to Styrofoam, residents can drop off automotive products, electronics and appliances, household cleaning products, paints and solvents, pesticides and other household products. See the full list of accepted items at tempe.gov/HPCC Zero Waste Day is a free, drive-thru event held four times a year that offers expanded disposal and repurpose options to residents. The next Zero Waste Day is Saturday, Nov. 2. See event details at tempe.gov/ZeroWaste
