Please help us welcome Joshua Link to our KY VALOR team. Josh joins the team as Military Recruitment Specialist and will be recruiting and supporting service members joining the civilian workforce in Kentucky. Welcome, Josh! 👋
Meet Josh, a dedicated 15-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps who has transitioned to making a significant impact in the civilian sector. With a wealth of experience in military and veteran programs, Josh is now bringing his expertise to KY VALOR, where he continues his mission of supporting veterans and their families. As a disabled veteran and an active-duty military spouse to his wife Mary who currently serves in the United States Navy, Josh has a personal understanding of the unique challenges faced by military families. This insight fuels his passion for advocacy and community engagement. At FedEx, Josh was instrumental in developing veteran programs that provided resources and opportunities for service members and their families. Now he aims to bring that same level of commitment and expertise to KY VALOR, further enhancing support for veterans in the state of Kentucky. Welcome to the team, Joshua Link!

Governor Beshear has named October 2024 Intellectual Property Month in Kentucky. IP is critical to our thriving innovation ecosystem and bolsters Kentucky’s growing economy by incentivizing investment in knowledge and inventions that drive social and economic impact. The Commonwealth of Kentucky is creating an equitable intellectual property ecosystem that encourages and protects ideas generating the most social and commercial good from industry leaders, inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs through strong public-private partnerships. You can be a part of this movement by joining the Kentucky Intellectual Property Alliance (KYIPA) - a free resource for those interested in IP education and attainment across Kentucky.
October is IP Month in Kentucky! Join us in celebrating this recognition by Governor Beshear of the importance of intellectual property to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Keep an eye out for features throughout the month on several of our partners and be on the lookout for us at events around the Commonwealth (such as Shaping Our Appalachian Region, Inc. (SOAR)'s 2024 Summit). Many thanks to our awesome partners! For our AdvanceKentucky team, back to school means launch a new year of the Access to Algebra and College Readiness Programs. On Monday, they did just that by gathering more than 150 administrators and teachers for a day of interactive sessions, panel discussions and hands-on work to get a head start on the year ahead. This year, Kentucky Department of Education Chief Academic Officer Micki L. Ray Marinelli joined to recognize the importance of the work these teachers do to expand advance coursework for Kentucky students, “I’m grateful to our partnerships and the history of work that’s proven to be successful for teachers and students. Ensuring access to advanced coursework is a call to action for all of us because students deserve it.”
This week we hosted more than 150 administrators and teachers in Louisville to kick off the school year and participation in our Access to Algebra and College Readiness Programs. Many thanks to all who attended, engaged in our interactive sessions throughout the day, and took time to set the pace for the year ahead. A special thank you to Micki L. Ray Marinelli at Kentucky Department of Education for delivering a keynote to start the day.
