About us
For over 75 years, Kessler Institute has been a national leader in rehabilitation medicine. Today, as one of the nation's largest rehabilitation hospitals, we continue to lead this field — providing the highly specialized care, advanced treatment and innovative technologies that enable individuals with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputation, neurologic diseases, orthopedic trauma, cancer and cardiac conditions to rebuild their lives. Kessler is one of only ten centers in the nation – and the only hospital in New Jersey - to be federally designated as a Model System for treatment and research of both traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, a distinction shared with Kessler Foundation. That same level of expertise and experience distinguishes each of the comprehensive rehabilitation programs offered at our four New Jersey campuses. Perhaps that's one reason why U.S. News & World Report ranks Kessler as one of "America's Best Hospitals." And why each year, thousands of individuals from across the country choose Kessler for their rehabilitation. Select Medical provides equal employment [and affirmative action] opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability. An exoskeleton is a wearable, battery-powered device that fits like a brace around the legs, hips and waist to assist in standing and walking. The device prevents atrophy and allows the patient to walk while also helping the brain rebuild the necessary communication link to the legs. The technology within the exoskeleton enables the device to sense the support a patient needs and adjust accordingly. The exoskeleton provides full assistance for patients who need it and less for those further along in their recovery journey. Find out how patients are learning to walk again using exoskeleton technology: https://bit.ly/4e073BX

Did you know that our hospitals use an invisible solution during hygiene training? Our teams understand the importance of hand washing so we use a solution to help identify ways to improve technique. It is invisible to the naked eye and requires ultraviolet light to see. Through this approach, clinicians increase their knowledge and awareness of best handwashing practices. #HealthcareQualityWeek

Our pharmacists use advanced technology to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of medication. The provider’s order goes directly to the pharmacist for verification and dispensing, eliminating paper charts and phone calls. #PharmacyWeek
