    We are doing #Culture all wrong. What is it like to work there? How are meetings conducted? How often are there meetings? How are decisions made? How is conflict handled? How are expectations set and managed? How often do team members and direct reports interact? What does that interaction look like? How is it communicated? What is valued more, independence or collaboration? What is my personality and how does it relate to the Candidate or Hiring Manager? Does the culture encourage risk taking or risk adversion? What is the interview process and how is it managed? Does the organization encourage/foster learning? Is the organization more purpose or revenue driven? What companies cultures have fostered happiness for you in the past? Are all the stake holders in the interview process on the same page? EVERYONE talks about culture when it comes to hiring. ▶ We want candidates that fit into our culture? Okay... what does that mean? It's hard to get a coherent and tangible answer that can actually be applied to candidate selection. It's typically generic and over-used terms. ▶ Similarly, candidates will often say "I really like the company's culture". But that typically just means is everyone I have spoken to is really nice. 🔷 I believe true culture is defined as... "How we do things" Use some of the questions above to really evaluate what culture your are hiring or interviewing for. 🔷 As a Hiring Manager, ask your candidates about their favorite company they've worked for and dig into what it was actually like to work there. 🔷 As a Candidate, focus less on the "job" but pay close attention to the questions above to help get a sense for what it's like to work at that organization. #interviewtips #hiring Annaliese Stephanus Kate Bahnmuller Molly White Jones

If something doesn't make sense ⤵ You are likely missing key pieces of information 🤦♂️ Being in the "people business" as we like to call it, we often encounter situations with clients and candidates where something just doesn't make sense. It's easy to assume that person or organization is acting irrationally. 😡 But there is usually an objective reason and we are just not privy to all the facts. So when we encounter something that just doesn't make sense, instead of getting worked up about it, we try to step back and ask ourselves what are some potential reasons for this situation. What information are we missing? This happens almost daily❗ ▶ Which is a great reminder that we need to always ask those 2nd, 3rd, 4th level questions so we can truly understand our clients and our candidates.
