🎉 We are thrilled to see Paris Metro featured in Texas Monthly as a model for rural transportation, maintaining bus routes since 2016. KFH Group, Inc. is proud to have supported this achievement as consultants by completing the initial transit service design and implementation plan, including the development of a sponsorship program, for the City of Paris, TX, and Paris Metro. We developed a sponsorship program that enabled the system director to secure over $125,000 in direct funding from the private sector to help start and sustain the service. Our planning process also featured a community fixed-route design charrette with over 50 participants. We led a presentation on best practices for fixed-route design, after which attendees were divided into breakout groups to create their own service designs. The designs created are essentially what is on the ground today reflecting the community’s involvement and ownership in shaping their transit system since 2016. Read more about Paris Metro’s success in Texas Monthly in the article "What Can Public Transit Deserts Learn From Paris, Texas?" by Joelle DiPaolo. https://lnkd.in/ei744Z6N #Ruraltransit #Busrider #transitconsulatnts #transitservicedesign #sustainabilty #funding #sponsorshipprogram #design #charrette #outreach #communityinvolvement

#Welcome aboard, Jill! We’re excited to welcome Dr. Jill Hough to KFH Group, Inc. as a Senior Transportation Planner! Dr. Hough has dedicated 34 years to advancing transportation research and policy, primarily through her role at the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) at North Dakota State University. As the program director of the Small Urban and Rural Center on Mobility for 22 years, she developed the program to serve North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming, later expanding it to gain national prominence. Her work has centered on shared-use mobility, intelligent transportation systems, addressing food deserts through transportation, and improving mobility for the elderly and disadvantaged. Dr. Hough's expertise has led to several national and international leadership positions, including Chair of the Research in Mobility Committee (RiM) for the Union Internationale des Transports Publics (UITP) and University Liaison to the American Public Transportation Association’s Research and Technology Committee. She has also served on the executive committee of the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC) in various officer positions and completed two terms on the National Academies of Science Transit Cooperative Research Program Oversight Project Selection (TOPS) Committee. Currently, she chairs the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Standing Committee on Rural, Intercity Bus, and Specialized Transportation. Thrilled to share that KFH Group, Inc. was one of the sponsors of this year's TAM Annual Roadeo! Our team members Luke Huddon, James McGuire, Sarah Lasky, Ridhima Mehrotra, William Sutton, and Chad Ballentine volunteered as judges, evaluating bus operators' skills in pre-trip inspections and driving courses. Special shout-out to Frederic Fravel for presenting trophies. It was truly a fantastic opportunity to witness the talents of Maryland's bus drivers firsthand. Congratulations to all participants, and a big thank you to the Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM) for organizing such a dynamic event! About TAM Rodeo: The Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM) hosted its annual Roadeo on Saturday, April 13, featuring multiple competitions and courses for Maryland bus operators at the Dorsey MARC station. This event showcases the skills and expertise of bus drivers from several public transit agencies across the state. KFH Group sent seven members to volunteer as judges, including Luke Huddon, Jimmy McGuire, Sarah Lasky, and Ridi Mehrotra, who judged the pre-trip inspections alongside volunteers from other agencies. Meanwhile, Will Sutton and Chad Ballentine judged driving course competitions, with Will assessing the right-hand turn and Chad evaluating the right-hand reverse. These events take place on a confined course where drivers navigate a narrow and restrictive roadway. Afterwards, the event hosted a reception at the Olive Grove restaurant in Linthicum Heights. After the meal and a spirited game of “name that tune,” the judges awarded trophies to those who scored the most at the Roadeo. The winners of this Roadeo will now advance to the 33rd National Community Transportation Rodeo during the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) Expo 2024 in West Palm Beach, Florida, in June. Exciting news! The Cass County, Michigan Government Transportation Authority's millage vote has successfully passed! In 2021, KFH Group, Inc. completed a Transit Service Plan, recommending a renewed millage campaign after a previous millage vote had been unsuccessful. The plan highlighted the need for local funding and was shaped by customer and community input, addressing the importance of additional or improved public transportation in Cass County. On February 27, 2024, the Cass County Transportation Authority's millage vote successfully passed, albeit by a narrow margin, securing vital financial support for enhanced and ongoing mobility for Cass County residents. This achievement highlights our commitment to improving public transportation. #CassCounty #publictransportation #funding #MillageVote #mobility #communityengagement #transitriders #transportationplanning #consultants #successstory https://lnkd.in/dgJaTCpc
