Position Overview The Development Director will partner with the Executive Director to strengthen and build upon the successes to date, elevating and diversifying the annual budget and boosting a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and beyond. The Development Director is a leader, storyteller, and advocate for KDO. Their passion, commitment, deep understanding, and clarity are crucial in shaping how others perceive and appreciate KDO’s story. A key focus will be cultivating new, dynamic, and maintaining donor relationships through proactive outreach, creative initiatives, and proven programs. They will also have the opportunity to build and coach a high-performing team as our revenue continues to grow. As we start the new year, we are thrilled to announce our new (and first ever) Development Director, Courtney Schmidt! With incredible growth fueled by the need and commitment of our community, creating this new role has been a goal at the forefront of our evolution; it is a monumental milestone and moment for KDO. Courtney comes to KDO with a wealth of knowledge and years of experience in philanthropy and fundraising, having enjoyed a noteworthy career in development at Purdue University in West Lafayette, most recently as the Senior Managing Director, Donor Relations for the College of Engineering. Recognized for her ability to cultivate deep and meaningful connections and her skills in aligning organizational missions with donor interests, ensuring a positive impact on Indiana's children, Courtney is committed to creating lasting social change with strategic vision, passion, and purpose. Beyond her impressive background, Courtney's ability to lead from a mission-centered approach from the get-go blew us away. We wholeheartedly welcome her and cannot wait to watch her and our stellar Team take KDO to new heights.
