We've moved to a new location in C-ID! After four years at the Pacific Rim Center, Kin On Home Care and Social Services has relocated to a street-level office in the International District Village Square II (715 S Lane Street, Seattle, WA 98104). A heartfelt THANK YOU to all our community partners who joined us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday! It was a pleasure to share our exciting plans for utilizing this new space. In addition to our regular services, this new location will serve as a hub for community events and workshops, advancing our mission to support and engage with the Asian senior community. Last Wednesday, we hosted a virtual panel for Microsoft employees on Elderly Care with Asian Flair: Navigating Cultural Relevance, Uncertainty, and Stigmas. We were grateful to have Leenar Fong (Family of Kin On resident), David Tsang (Kin On Social Work Director), and Sherwin Tsao (Kin On Board President) share heartfelt insights and unique perspectives on elderly care, addressing cultural considerations, challenges, and how Kin On supports Asian families in meeting these needs. A big thank you to the Microsoft staff for being part of this meaningful conversation! #PanelDiscussion #ElderlyCare #AsianElderlyCare #AsianSeniors #Asian #KinOn

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Kin On successfully hosted its 8th annual Seniors Day at the Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle in Redmond (Eastside). This special event was dedicated to honoring the wisdom, experience, and contributions of seniors within the community, drawing approximately 450 attendees, including staff, volunteers, exhibitors, speakers, performers, and friends. Bellevue City Councilmember Janice Zahn was also in attendance, adding to the significance of the event. Promoting healthy living for seniors was a key focus of the event. Sixteen community service organizations participated, offering valuable resources and support, which enriched the experience for all attendees. A series of health seminars provided insightful discussions on important topics such as nutrition, wellness, and financial health, offering practical advice to help seniors live healthier, more independent lives. The day's program featured 17 vibrant performances, showcasing the talents and achievements of members from the Kin On Healthy Living Program and other community artists. Attendees were treated to a variety of cultural performances, blending tradition with creativity in ways that left a lasting impression. Interactive activities added a dynamic element to the event, including cultural arts and painting stations, along with a captivating drone demonstration, ensuring participants enjoyed an educational yet fun-filled experience. Thanks to the combined efforts of staff, volunteers, performers, 16 community service organizations, and all attendees, the 2024 Kin On Seniors Day was a resounding success. The event left participants with a greater appreciation for the wisdom of seniors, a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, and a renewed commitment to fostering intergenerational connections. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate the vital contributions of our seniors to the community in the years to come.

We believe in celebrating the diversity of our team and the cities we serve and always strive to give back to the communities who rely on us to get around on 🛴 🚲 two wheels. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI Heritage Month), we’re thrilled to announce our most recent partnership with Kin On in Seattle! Kin On is on a mission to support local elders and families by offering culturally Asian and linguistically appropriate healthcare services in a healthy living community. In addition to making a $5,000 donation to support the important work Kin On does, we’ll also be wrapping and deploying dozens of e-bikes in Seattle in decorative art, donating a portion of proceeds from all rides on these vehicles to Kin On. #Micromobility #GreenTransportation #KinOn #CommunityOutreach #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth #Seattle

Kin On will create the first Chinese Aging Mastery Program in the nation to equip low-income, English Language Limited seniors to age successfully and reduce emotional and mental stress, physical decline, and medical and legal challenges through an evidence-based workshop series. These courses will not only impact seniors taking the workshops, but also the communities they are a part of through social engagement and volunteerism.
