On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Kin On successfully hosted its 8th annual Seniors Day at the Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle in Redmond (Eastside). This special event was dedicated to honoring the wisdom, experience, and contributions of seniors within the community, drawing approximately 450 attendees, including staff, volunteers, exhibitors, speakers, performers, and friends. Bellevue City Councilmember Janice Zahn was also in attendance, adding to the significance of the event.
Promoting healthy living for seniors was a key focus of the event. Sixteen community service organizations participated, offering valuable resources and support, which enriched the experience for all attendees. A series of health seminars provided insightful discussions on important topics such as nutrition, wellness, and financial health, offering practical advice to help seniors live healthier, more independent lives.
The day's program featured 17 vibrant performances, showcasing the talents and achievements of members from the Kin On Healthy Living Program and other community artists. Attendees were treated to a variety of cultural performances, blending tradition with creativity in ways that left a lasting impression.
Interactive activities added a dynamic element to the event, including cultural arts and painting stations, along with a captivating drone demonstration, ensuring participants enjoyed an educational yet fun-filled experience.
Thanks to the combined efforts of staff, volunteers, performers, 16 community service organizations, and all attendees, the 2024 Kin On Seniors Day was a resounding success. The event left participants with a greater appreciation for the wisdom of seniors, a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, and a renewed commitment to fostering intergenerational connections.
