We invite you to join us for our Surviving the Holidays Workshops on Handling Holiday Grief and Guiding Grieving Hearts through Holiday Hurdles. New this year, these workshops will be offered in-person at KinderMourn. For anyone unable to join us in-person, you can attend the workshop online via Zoom. ❤️🩹Handling Holiday Grief will provide practical suggestions and discussion to help bereaved families cope with these difficult days. The workshop’s focus will be supportive and informative, and parents who have traveled this journey will share ways they survived past holidays. ❤️🩹We welcome all bereaved Empty Arms Parents to join us on Tuesday, November 12th at 6:30 pm at the KinderMourn home. All parents who have experienced the death of a baby from early pregnancy through newborn death are encouraged to attend. ❤️🩹We welcome all Bereaved Parents to join us on Wednesday, November 13th at 6:30 pm at the KinderMourn home. For all bereaved parents, the holiday season can intensify the ever-present feelings of sadness and pain. Please RSVP if you are interested in attending either of our workshops, as spaces are limited. Note: Once in-person spots are filled, those interested in participating can still join through Zoom. Please RSVP by November 8th to Kaela at kaela@kindermourn.org and note which night you plan to attend. #survivingtheholidays #griefworkshop

We are excited to offer a new peer-led creative arts support group at KinderMourn for teens navigating the loss of a parent or caregiver. This new support group is for teens ages 13-18 and will meet monthly at the KinderMourn house beginning Thursday, November 7th at 6:30pm. This group will be led by Jackie Rao, a teen whose mom died unexpectedly three years ago. Books and the arts, such as “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green and Noah Kahan’s song “Growing Sideways” helped her cope with grief and all its complexities. 🆓 Like all of our support groups, it will be offered free of charge. It will provide a safe and empathetic space where members can share their experiences and connect with each other through literature, poetry, art, and music. 💜 Registration for this group is required. If you have not received KinderMourn services before but would like to join, please call our main line at 704-376-2580. If you want to register for this support group or have any questions, please contact Kaela at kaela@kindermourn.org. #creativeartstherapy #hopeandhealing

We are pleased to announce Kaela O’Donnell, MSW, LCSW, as KinderMourn’s new Executive Director! Kaela is currently serving as our Clinical Director and has been an integral part of our organization for over five years. She is extremely excited to continue to support our KinderMourn families and grateful to transition into this new role. As someone who navigated grief from a young age, Kaela views her role and work alongside the families at KinderMourn as a great privilege. Kaela’s clinical experience and training allow her to understand the importance of the work being done at KinderMourn and how sacred it is to hold space for our families in their grief. We are thrilled to promote Kaela to the role of Executive Director and trust that she will guide our organization from a place of compassion, competence, and commitment to the KinderMourn mission. Please join us in congratulating Kaela on her new role!! 👏💜✨

Yesterday KinderMourn held a Breakfast of Hope and Healing at Quail Hollow Club shining a light on our KinderMourn families. We had a beautiful morning sharing with our community the impact of KinderMourn’s services and programs and empowering our community partners to support those who have suffered an unimaginable loss. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to be a part of our event and for joining us in our mission to provide help, hope, and healing in our community. Thank you to all of our incredible Breakfast of Hope sponsors, table hosts and especially to our special guest speaker, Mary Mack. A special thank you to all of our KinderMourn clients who helped create our breakfast centerpieces honoring and remembering their loved ones. 🫶💜 Together we can ensure that no child, teen or parent ever has to grieve alone. Thank you all for being a part of our mission and KinderMourn family! #hopeandhealing
