UK King's Daughters and senior leaders from the University of Kentucky proudly hosted some of our legislative leaders on Friday: Mountain Caucus Chairman Rep. John Blanton, Rep. Patrick Flannery and Senator Robin Webb. Our team members heard updates from the past session on bills that affect our community and what to expect in the 2025 session. We also were proud to welcome members of the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives, who presented Rep. Flannery with The Legislative Champion Award. We are fortunate to have a legislative delegation that has our community and team members at top of mind in Frankfort.

Congratulations to Sony Bathini, RN, for winning the prestigious DAISY Award! Sony is a nurse on the Oncology Unit (3J). Her compassion and caring touched a patient during their admission on 3J: “She helped me get through a hard 3 weeks after chemo. She was very attentive and listened to my worries and explained everything to me so I could understand what was going on. She is more than a nurse. She is genuine and personable. She always met my needs and was on top of her game. Very light hearted which brought joy in the time of darkness.” The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.

We’re excited to have been part of Ashland Independent Schools' Project IGNITE: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) camp! Our King’s Daughters Medical Transport team visited the school, giving students a chance to learn about their job duties and what devices they use. Students also proudly wore our logo shirts on their trip to COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in Columbus, Ohio. It’s inspiring to see such enthusiasm for learning in our community!
