On September 14, 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to take 80 students, staff, and KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools families to Know Your Rights Camp, where they engaged in sessions with none other than Colin Kaepernick. This inspiring day at the Pennsylvania Convention Center was filled with interactive sessions including art, music, and speeches, all focused on education and social justice empowerment. Our students gained invaluable insights from remarkable speakers, including member of The MOVE Organization, Mike Africa, Jr., criminal defense attorney, Brianna Shaw, and Philly educator, Sharif El-Mekki, enriching their understanding of civil rights and activism. This experience was not just educational; it was a powerful reminder of the importance of knowing one’s rights and advocating for the rights of others. Ten seniors from KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy recently visited Accenture to explore the consulting industry. During the trip, students reflected on their UScience Aptitude test results, toured the office, and engaged with a panel of new employees and recent graduates. They asked insightful questions about choosing the right college and finding fulfillment in their careers. We are excited to welcome a third new Board member to KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools. Andrew C. Wheeler is the Founder and President of Lincoln Leadership, which offers sustainable leadership solutions to mission-centered organizations. Andrew began his executive search journey at Heidrick & Struggles and honed his approach at Diversified Search Group. He is a co-founder of Friends of Cobbs Creek Park, a community-focused organization that works to maintain the park. He serves on the Board of the Economy Economy League of Greater Philadelphia and on the Advisory Board of Temple’s Biotechnology Master’s Program. He is an active member of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and furthered his passion for education when he assisted with building a school on a mission trip to Haiti. #kippphilly #boardoftrustees #welcome #philly #dreamwithoutlimits

It is a year of growth for KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools. Not only have we added a grade level to one of our elementary and middle schools, we are also expanding our Board! KIPP Philadelphia is honored to welcome Raymond Perkins, PhD as our newest Board member. Raymond is a Senior Data Scientist at Intuit, where he designs Artificial Intelligence systems to protect small businesses from fraud. Prior to joining Intuit, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Meta Platforms and a Quantitative Investment Analyst at T. Rowe Price.   Raymond is a member of the Board of Directors for the Fleisher Art Memorial. He earned both his PhD and master’s degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from Morehouse College. #kippphilly #boardoftrustees #welcome #philly #dreamwithoutlimits

KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools is thrilled to welcome Diana Tucker Harrison to our Board of Trustees. Diana is passionate about empowerment and education. She previously served on the KIPP DC Ambassador Board for six years. During her tenure, she contributed to the creation of KIPProm, which had its inaugural event in 2016 and has since become an annual fundraising event for the organization. She also participated on the Scholarship and Mentoring committees.
