Today our students had so much fun in the kitchen while making Samosas! Our lesson focused on communication and we practiced those skills with our amazing volunteers from discover! 🧑🍳

Stirring up some fun! 🤩 Today’s session was such a great time with our students and volunteers. We focused our attention to Belonging for our lesson and worked together to make delicious muffins!

Blending up fun and learning! 🥤✨ Our students had a blast today working alongside our volunteers, making delicious smoothies, and practicing decision-making skills.🍓🍌

Creating Healthy Habits 🍓 Tuesday our students had so much fun learning about Autonomy and making their own choices during our recipes!

This week we're keeping warm with these toasty quesadillas!🌮 Today, we were joined by Columbus State Community College to talk about future opportunities for our students! We also had amazing volunteers come in from The Raines Group to help us with our lesson on competence📚🧑🍳

This week we are whisking up some fun! 🧁 Today our students had the opportunity to share what makes them feel like they belong during our lessons in the kitchen. We want to give a huge shout out to our friends at Whole Foods Market for coming back and volunteering with us again. 👩🍳

Baking Muffins & Building Community 🤩 Today our students worked with our volunteers to bake muffins and learn today’s lesson on belonging. We’re so thankful for the help we had today and all the memories we made! We cannot wait for these students to join us again soon. 👩🍳

It’s amazing to see how quickly kids can develop valuable individual and teamwork skills when given a fun learning opportunity!   We kicked off 2025 with a fantastic volunteer experience at Kitchen of Life, a non-profit dedicated to helping kids build resilience and interpersonal skills through culinary arts. The students followed recipes for smoothies and yogurt parfaits, diving right in with a little guidance from our team members, as they worked towards the important goal of learning autonomy.   Afterwards, we had some inspiring conversations about future career opportunities, and the power of individual decision-making and teamwork. A great week comes to a close! 👏🏼 We practiced good communication with students today and made delicious samosas, with the help of volunteers from OSU Wexner Medical Center’s Epidemiology team! These volunteers were great with the students and helped them learn to share their needs. To top it all off, these students completed their fourth session today and graduated from our program! 🥳 Congratulations to these graduates! These students have very bright futures ahead of them. And, thank you to our volunteers today that made this session possible! 😊

Another great session completed at Kitchen of Life! Today’s group of students completed their fourth and final session, where they practiced using good communication to express themselves. With the help of amazing volunteers from TriNet, these students successfully finished the recipes and accomplished great things! 🥳 Congratulations to these students!
