One year ago, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse sent shockwaves through our industry and communities. Today, we honor those whose lives were lost and those whose lives were forever changed. We also recognize the collective efforts of first responders, engineers, and leaders who stepped up after devastation.

Happy Maryland Day! 🌄🌎 Today, we’re celebrating Maryland Day by highlighting some of the incredible work KLT Group has had the privilege to support right here in the great state of Maryland! Sustainability in Laurel – We led community engagement and supported the development of the Laurel Sustainability Plan, a project especially close to our hearts. For Charlize Cramer, who lives and works in Laurel, this plan directly impacts her community—bringing meaningful change right to her doorstep! Empowering Youth Voices in Transit – We played a key role in launching the Youth Transit Council for the Maryland Transit Administration. Now in its second year, this council gives Maryland youth a platform to learn about MTA services and share their insights with decision-makers. Advancing GIS Excellence – Our GIS Team has been instrumental in developing GIS SOPs for MTA Maryland. These SOPs help ensure consistent, reliable GIS data while also uncovering how survey bias can impact data outcomes, leading to more informed decision-making. At KLT Group, we’re proud to live and work in Maryland, contributing to projects that make a lasting impact on our communities. 🌍Honoring Women Who Changed the Game in Environmental Science 🌍 For International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating Ellen Swallow Richards, a true pioneer in environmental science and sustainability. She was the first woman admitted to MIT (breaking barriers before it was even a thing!) and dedicated her career to improving water quality, environmental health, and sustainability—all things we care deeply about at KLT Group. Her work helped shape the environmental regulations and sustainability practices we use today, proving that one person’s dedication can have a lasting impact. Today, in celebration of #WorldEngineeringDay we are spotlighting Paola Ariza, P.E., MBA! Paola is one of the incredible minds driving innovation and resilience in engineering. Take some time to learn more about Paola: 🔹 Superpower at Work: Paola’s ability to "read the room" 👓 helps her navigate complex challenges, ensuring smooth collaboration and effective problem-solving. 🔹 Most Interesting Project: Helping develop a resiliency program for a transit agency—analyzing how climate and human stressors impact critical infrastructure and assets. Through this work, she gained insight into how existing policies (or the lack thereof) influence outcomes and had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the agency’s long-term sustainability. 🔹 Workday Must-Have: 🎧 Her headphones!
