The BIGGEST congratulations to our client Mary Anderson, Ph.D. whose book, "The Happy High Achiever," is out today!🎉 The book is a practical guide to her 8 Essentials, a set of powerful principles with actionable, science-based strategies to combat the unique pressures and pitfalls of high-performing individuals. These CBT-based tools help ambitious people live free of the perpetual anxiety and fear of failure that can hold them back, and instead enjoy both happiness and high achievement. Sounds amazing, right? We are honored to have been a part of Dr A's book journey! Happy pub day!!! #author #pubday #published

WHAT CHANGED? Publishers used to have ONE really effective way of selling books that doesn’t really work anymore: getting them placed in prominent positions at bookstores. Since everyone had to buy books in person 30 years ago, as long as publishers got an author's book on one of the front tables at Barnes & Noble, it had a decent chance of people buying it. But these days, the vast majority of books are sold online with far less browsing, because we simply search for and purchase exactly what we want. One big result of this change is that you, as the author (especially in the nonfiction realm), are now the #1 marketer for your book. Publishers need you to bring your own audience to the table—people who are ready and excited to buy your book. People who are going to intentionally type your name or book title into a search bar and click “add to cart.” We hope this history lesson empowers you to become THE advocate for your book!

Many aspiring authors think that if they self-publish, they’ll never be able to get a book deal with a traditional publisher. But this is a myth! In fact, self-publishing can be the way that you get signed with a traditional publisher. Listen in on this interview with poet Emory Hall, author of “Made of Rivers.” Emory self-published her book through our assisted self-publishing service and went on to sign with Hay House Publishing! https://lnkd.in/efaxe7Kf #writeabook #author #writer

What do agents and publishers think about authors who work with a ghostwriter? In short: They love it! In long: They are thrilled to know that the book will be completed on time and written professionally. Publishers want to work with professional writers if at all possible. It makes their job so much easier! Writing a book is a unique journey. There are common pitfalls along the way that can be avoided if you’re working with a writer who has already written multiple books and knows what a publisher wants to see. If you are working with a ghostwriter, be sure to mention it in your book proposal. Agents and publishers will want to know.
