  • Dear KFS Community,   We are reaching out to you in a time of great need. Junoh Kim, a rising junior at NYU Stern and a KFS fellow, was involved in a severe accident on June 23rd when armed carjackers crashed into his Uber while fleeing from a high-speed police chase.   This tragic incident has left Junoh with significant injuries, including severe spinal cord damage. He is currently paralyzed from the waist down and has limited use of his hands. The extent of his recovery remains uncertain.   Since the accident, Junoh has undergone two critical surgeries and is now on a long road to rehabilitation. The physical, emotional, and financial toll of this accident is overwhelming, and we are turning to our community for support.   The accident has been covered in multiple press outlets, including the New York Post and The Chosun Daily, which has helped raise $100,000. These funds are vital to covering Junoh's immediate medical expenses, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. However, the overall costs are substantial, and additional funds are still needed to ensure Junoh receives the best possible care and support during this challenging time.   Please use this link to reach Junoh’s GoFundMe page. Your generous contributions will go towards: 1) Medical bills for surgeries, hospital stays, and specialist consultations. 2) Rehabilitation costs, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and adaptive equipment. 3) Home modifications to accommodate Junoh's new mobility needs. 4) Support services to help Junoh and his family adjust to their new reality.   Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Junoh's journey towards recovery. We would also appreciate any shares of this campaign to help us reach a wider audience.   Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, prayers, and positive thoughts. Together, we can help Junoh regain strength, independence, and hope for the future.   Sincerely, KFS Fellowship Team https://lnkd.in/exjQt5Vd

  • Thank you Bok-hyun Lee, the governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, and the entire FSS team for graciously hosting KFS for a meaningful breakfast discussion in New York. During the gathering, FSS and KFS engaged in fruitful conversations on ways to further modernize the South Korean capital markets and foster increased collaboration among global investors, Korean investors, and corporations. Open communication and networking were emphasized as essential avenues for achieving these objectives. Special recognition goes to KFS Senior Advisors Michael Chung, Hoon Kim, Ph.D., CFA, Stellar Tucker, and Lisa Lee, as well as KFS President Mark Kim and Executive Committee Member David Kim, for their representation of KFS during this significant occasion. We extend our gratitude to KFS Junior Mentor and talented photographer Chris Oh for capturing the memorable moments of the event. Click here for press coverage: https://lnkd.in/e47FbAPH

Dear KFS Community, We are pleased to kick off our very first Lessons Learned series in the West Coast, featuring SG Lee, Founder/CEO of Viva Republica (Toss). Toss is Korea’s #1 fintech super app with one-third of the South Korean population actively using the platform today. As the company is preparing to go public, this is an incredible opportunity to hear SG’s story behind a dentist-turned-entrepreneur and his 10-year journey from inception to present-day Toss. Hosted by Altos Ventures, the event will be held on Monday, May 27 at 6pm PT. Kindly note that this event falls on the tail end of the Memorial Day weekend, but we hope most folks are back in town by Monday evening to kickstart your week with inspirations! This event is meant to be an interactive conversation, so we will be hosting it exclusively in-person in the Bay Area. To receive event details, please register by Friday, May 24: https://lnkd.in/e2uzx5uM
