About us

The Council of Korean Americans' (CKA) mission is to advance the national voice, interest, and influence of the 1.9 million Korean Americans in the United States through our four pillars: amplifying voices, building community, celebrating identity, and developing leaders. Our philosophy is that we are more effective and impactful when we work together as a community. We unite, equip, and nurture current and future leaders in the Korean American community to create a more significant impact and promote public engagement. In addition to collaborating within our community, we encourage cooperation and partnership with other ethnic, racial, and international groups to pursue the common good and cultivate representation at the highest levels of society.

    Emerging Leaders Scholars Light Up New York City! 🗽✨ Our 2024 #EmergingLeadersScholarship cohort recently wrapped up an exhilarating two-day field trip in New York City, filled with cultural immersion and leadership insights. Kang at the Mellon Foundation, where fellows learned about the intersection of arts and public service. The journey continued with a visit to the Korean Cultural Center New York to admire the "Boundaries of Existence" exhibition by Jinhee Lee. The day culminated in a delightful dinner with CKA members, including sponsor Dow Kim, fostering lively discussions and strengthening community ties. Day two was dedicated to civic engagement, led by Daniel Cho. The workshop featured practical advice on leveraging personal influence for community betterment, equipping our fellows with the tools to enact positive change within their schools and neighborhoods. A big thank you to all the speakers, CKA members, and everyone who contributed to making this experience great for the fellows! 💖 💡 CKA's mission is to advance the national voice and influence of the Korean American community.   • Happy National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day! 🕯️💙 On July 24, we had the honor of hosting the 17th Annual 727 Armistice Day Commemoration at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC. This special event marked the 15th anniversary of the law that established National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day in the United States, serving as a moment to honor Korean War Veterans and advocate for peace on the Korean Peninsula. 🕊️ 🇰🇷🇺🇸 Subscribe to the CKA Newsletter and be the first to receive updates on events, community initiatives, and news like this: https://hubs.li/Q02J57Q80 Generously sponsored by LG, this congressional reception was co-hosted alongside esteemed organizations, including Remember727, Korean American Grassroots Conference (KAGC), Hwarang Youth Foundation, Federation of Korean Associations USA,, Korea Economic Institute (KEI), and The Korea Society. The evening featured special performances, heartfelt remarks by Members of Congress, veterans and hosts — including our very own CKA Executive Director Abraham Kim. A highlight was the photo exhibit of the Korean War by Lim In-Sik, South Korea’s first war photographer, which provided a visual tribute to the veterans. A poignant candle-lighting ceremony at 7:27 pm provided a moving conclusion to the event. Let’s continue to reflect on the significance of the Korean War and express our hopes for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.     AKP Sports Foundation is proud to host "An Evening with Hwang Hee Chan of Wolves FC." We are particularly excited to feature Hwang Hee Chan, a world-renowned Korean player from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, a distinguished English Premier League team. The weekend kicked off with a warm welcome dinner, followed by an evening session led by Jim Lee and Jeanie Chang, setting the stage for insightful discussions ahead. Saturday's activities included a session by Jeanie Chang on thriving as a Korean American leader (✨), capstone project coaching with Jim Lee (🏆), and community project meetings (📋). The day concluded with a dinner featuring CKA members Joyce Y. Kang, Davey S. Kim, Melissa Park, Mihae Kim Stefani, and Charles Yook (🍽️). Sunday's session, led by Jeanie Chang, focused on Jeong Leadership, mindfulness, and resilience.
