    Domestic Violence Service Provider

🚨 New Positions Alert 🚨 La Casa continues to impact our community significantly! We've recently expanded our reach by partnering with UCSF's Medical Safe Haven Program (MSH) to have an onsite advocate assist survivors of human trafficking and intimate partner violence. Last month, we added a second advocate at 850 Bryant to collaborate with the Special Victims Unit in responding to emergency DV calls, and we added a fourth advocate to our Family and Children Services (FCS). These new positions are a testament to our meaningful work and impact on survivors' lives. Some of these NEW positions and other exciting career opportunities are still open for applications. Learn more at www.lacasa.org/careers 🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟 Hear what Naryne has to say about working at La Casa (spoiler: she did go on to obtain her Master's in Global Health abroad and worked with survivors in Armenia. She has now returned to La Casa to lead our new MSH program!):

We had a super fun second annual Staff Wellness Day!! This year, our Staff Wellness Day landed on International Self Care Day, fitting considering La Casa’s Wellness Day was first put together to recognize the need for self-care in our field, particularly for our amazing team that provides direct support to survivors of domestic violence and their children. We extend a special thank you to our adorable SF SPCA friends, @alex.thegreat100 and @trudyonduty_sf , whose presence added an extra layer of joy to the day.

Today, the Supreme Court made the right call in United States v. Rahimi, overturning the Fifth Circuit Court’s decision and broadly upholding the constitutionality of firearm removal in cases with a domestic violence protection order. Prohibiting domestic abusers from accessing firearms is lifesaving and constitutional. Read our full statement here: https://bit.ly/4biOXtk #UnitedStatesvRahimi #RahimiDecision #DomesticViolence

This past week, we had the pleasure of being a part of ‘Genentech Gives Back Week’! The Staff Volunteers put together dozens of hygiene kits, teen dating violence awareness bracelets, and welcome cards. Our volunteer events focus on raising awareness about domestic violence, supporting La Casa’s’ mission & developing resources to champion survivor healing and safety. We would like to thank SACNAS, VIDA, NextGen, and Genentech for supporting La Casa’s mission and the community in which we serve.

We are closely monitoring the upcoming Supreme Court decision on United States v. Rahimi, which is set to make a decision soon. 💭 What is the U.S. v. Rahimi case about? The Supreme Court will decide if a federal law prohibiting possession of firearms by people subject to domestic violence protection orders is Constitutional—in other words, if an abuser who has a protection order or restraining order against them can legally keep their guns. We're staying tuned to developments to ensure survivor safety remains a top priority and will continue to share resources and support 💜 #DisarmDomesticViolence #USvRahimi #DomesticViolence #FirearmViolence

Wishing all mothers a happy day and a heartfelt thank you for all you do! Being a mother is arguably one of the world's most rewarding — but difficult — jobs. Whether providing guidance, nourishment, safety, or unconditional love, moms are the people who encourage us to become our best selves. Our name, "La Casa de las Madres," translates to "Home of the Mothers" because it signifies the safety, nurturing, and unconditional acceptance found within a mother's arms. It represents the refuge we all seek in a time of crisis or to heal from trauma.  This Mother’s Day, we want to thank all the hard-working moms, especially in our La Casa work family, who have given so much to their children, families, and communities we serve. Have a great Mother's Day! 💐 #sheroes #mothersday #momsrock

In honor of Women’s History Month, we had the pleasure of partnering with La Casa de las Madres today where we created welcome cards for women and children staying at La Casa’s emergency domestic violence shelter. La Casa de las Madres acts boldly to create a community where violence against women and children is not tolerated. We envision a society in which all individuals and families have equal access to basic resources and asset-building opportunities. We envision a future where safety and respect in intimate relationships are the norm. To achieve this future, La Casa offers a continuum of comprehensive and empowering services to women, teens, and children exposed to and at risk of abuse. We provide access, tools and support—clinical and peer-based—that strengthen their ability to affect change and break the cycle of violence.
