OperaFest LA features "Songs and Dances of Imaginary Lands," produced by Overtone Industries, and "Ipsa Dixit," produced by Long Beach Opera. Join Overtone Industries for a presentation of selected lands from "Songs and Dances of Imaginary Lands," a “groundbreaking” (L.A. Times) opera written by 21 librettists and 11 composers. Long Beach Opera is thrilled to continue its collaboration with composer Kate Soper, presenting the West Coast staged premiere of her "philosophy opera," Ipsa Dixit—a 2017 Pulitzer Prize explores the relationship between music, thought and language. Did you know this production of #LAOTurandot marks our third staging of artistic icon David Hockney's stunning set designs? With over 342 cast & crew members backstage and onstage, it's certainly no small feat, but it's worth the 30-year wait. Los Angeles Times spoke with LAO's VP of Artistic Planning Rupert Hemmings, Technical Director Jeff Kleeman, and Senior Design Manager Carolina Angulo about David Hockney's history with our company and the joys (and challenges) of mounting this Puccini masterwork. https://lnkd.in/eZnYcq95
After 34 years, David Hockney's magnificent ‘Turandot' sets get resurrected in L.A.
