At Lake City Partners, our mission is to end homelessness by providing shelter and supportive services, so that people have increased opportunities for stabilization, recovery, and permanent housing. We activate our mission by providing shelter, outreach, and client services in the North Seattle/King County area. We work closely with many other organizations, government agencies, and service providers. We encourage our community members to participate in our collective work through volunteering, advocacy, and organizing work.

We were able to partner with Mary's Place to get unsheltered individuals and families with children into hotels during the week-plus of extreme weather in Western Washington. I am so proud and grateful for the people I work with and what we do! Last night my organization was recognized as NUHSA’s 2024 Outstanding Humans Services Program. We did some amazing things: 100 people moved into permanent housing. 150 people into emergency shelter. Started a new enhanced outreach program. Opened a new shelter for senior women. And we’re just getting started!

First New Places Happy Faces of 2025! K is an example of how the journey to housing can be long and challenging, but at Lake City Partners we stick with people from tent to front door. Three years ago, K made contact with LCP. She had not had shelter since her husband passed in 2014 and due to her limitations and needs she was not able to come into shelter. One of our Community Outreach team members persisted in their steady support of K to meet her where she was at, and over time they were able to set K up with supportive services. Finally, and just a few days ago, that team member - who is now a manager of our Client Services team - was able to move K into her very own apartment. This staff member extends a special thank you to all of the LCP staff who have supported K on this journey, and we all give K congratulations on her new home! Special recognition to the King County Regional Homelessness Authority for a crucial, end-of-year funding allocation for our GLA Day Center. Thank you so much, KCRHA! Here's how it happened: Last year, SHARE/WHEEL located Tent City 4 in a church parking lot next to our GLA Day Center. TC4 is a community of about 100 people living outside who have been supported by our Day Center's showers, laundry and kitchen facilities. In addition to those services, our Client Services team has been able provide access to the Coordinated Entry System, connecting individuals and families to housing. Provide services to this community has been a great joy, however this unexpected rise in services meant our program was over budget for 2024. KCRHA stepped in with an end-of-year budget reallocation to help us cover this shortfall. We are — and continue to be — thankful for the KCRHA, whose data-driven approach which centers the lived experience of homelessness informs so much of our work and practices. KCRHA allows us to respond better and faster to the homelessness crisis. KCRHA, we could not do this without you! I’m so encouraged by how folks engage with the topic of homelessness. Last week I had two speaker-events about our work at Lake City Partners and the broader response work centered by the King County Regional Homelessness Authority. The Northshore Rotary Club were engaged and empathetic while holding important perspectives as business owners and community supporters. And on campus at the University of Washington Tacoma I was honored to see colleagues, mentors, former students and community members who engaged in a passionate and thoughtful question-and-answer dialog that went on long past time. It’s a privilege to be able to share about one of society‘s most pressing problems with a community who, across the board, are deeply connected to the well-being of those who are unsheltered and hold a shared desire to create positive impact and outcome.
